Yokosuka H5Y ( 九九式飛行艇)
The Yokosuka H5Y is a Japanese flying boat created in 1936 and commissioned in 1940. 20 H5Y1 aircraft were built, which probably served until 1943. 20 Yokosuka H5Y1 aircraft were built.
History
In 1934, the naval command was looking for a successor for the Hiro H4H flying boat, so they commissioned Yokosuka to create a successor for it. At the same time, it commissioned Kawanishi to create a heavy flying boat (the future H6K) as if the Yokosuki project had not worked out. This decision led to the Yokosuki aircraft having similar performance to the Kawanishi aircraft. The first prototype was ready in early 1936 and met the requirements of the Navy during flight tests, but when the plane was floating, it had stability problems. During further tests, problems with failures began to appear, which led to a very long period of corrections, which led to the fact that pre-serial production began only in 1939. In 1940, the revised Yokosuka H5Y aircraft was accepted into service as the Type 99 Flying Boat. However, the aircraft quickly became obsolete, and as it was complex to manufacture, it was discontinued in early 1941 after a total of about 20 aircraft had been produced. At the beginning of her service, she flew patrols and anti-submarine missions along with Hiro H4H aircraft, but in December 1941 the aircraft was withdrawn for training or transport functions. The Allies gave it the code name Cherry, and thought there were more of these flying boats in service. One H5Y aircraft was transferred to the Central Meteorological Observatory in Yokohama, where it served until 1942. The last Yokosuka H5Y flying boats served until 1943, after which probably all the remaining about 4 were scrapped.

Summary
The Yokosuka H5Y is an interesting aircraft for Japan in War Thunder. There is an interesting bomber that would be good at the beginning of your adventure with Japanese bombers. Its payload will be useful in air, sea and ground battles. I encourage you to discuss in the comments and to share your own knowledge on this subject.
Finally, I apologize for the linguistic and logical errors because unfortunately English is not my main language and I had to use google translator.

Man, they shoulda gone with an anime girl, +1 regardless

Omaneko is part of War Thunder, so I’m not breaking any rules, with other characters the anime could be different

A +1 from me! More flying boats, especially Japanese ones are very appreciated!

Nono, i’m saying the JSDF should have designed an anime girl as their mascot instead

this was done in the 4th Anti-Tank Helicopter Squadron. Probably other units also have their own anime mascots, but I’m lazy and don’t want to look for them.

This one premium Heli have historical camo of unit anime mascot, but there is also another one

And they recruit with anime characters, but hard to judge if this are anything more than “generic” anime girls and men

I think all japanese pilots and tank crew should get a big manly mustache and hachimaki and katana because thats what they need in plane and tank ofc. And tank crew voices need rework.

I would like to propose many Japanese flying aces, but due to politics they would not be accepted on the forum. Only neutral people (designers, test pilots) can be present

I miss the old voices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vspJ-Xe-vW4

Wdym? Moust of the profile pictures are real aces.
