The Yitian short-range anti-aircraft missile system is designed to protect troops on the march and stationary objects from low-flying aircraft and helicopters of army aviation, as well as to destroy unmanned vehicles and cruise missiles of the enemy at any time of day, in difficult weather conditions.
As a means of destruction, the Yitian SAM uses a modernized TY-90 air-to-air missile, developed in China in the late 90s to arm attack helicopters. The design and concept of the complex is similar to the SANTAL, Avenger and other similar systems. However, according to the developers, the Yitian SAM has greater combat effectiveness due to the TY-90 missile being equipped with a warhead of increased power compared to the Stinger missile, which is part of the American systems.
