edit: its a 203mm, i was thinking of the m53. this things gonna have to be in excess of 7.7 before that gun isnt an instant nuke no matter where it hits

Nothing stopping it from chambering the naval rounds of similar caliber in this case beyond SHS, but frankly, there is little reason to use AP because of how fat the HE is.

I agree, its also a cut down barrel vs the actual full length naval rifles so a equivalent AP round will not be making the same amount of penetration out of the M55.
Do want to see the rounds present though.
Fatter, slower M44 with a bigger gun with a reload that can be measured in minutes, 5.0, its going to be a bus and a half with a funni delete button and thats it, very glass cannon like.
there is also 8 inch AP mentioned in that document but it is not for howitzers
and there very much is a chance that they use different chamber dimensions or pressures
