Since the Stingray is coming in, at 9.3, with DM33.
Surely that means the 9.7 (X)M8 should be eligible for another step towards its correct ammunition (M900) in getting the M833 at a minimum? Especially considering M833 is still weaker than DM33?

It should get M833 due to lacking firepower compare to its counterparts.

Compare the stingray to these 3 vehicles.
Basically all have the same armour, manouverability and gun handling, the only differences are optics, ammunition and reload. The VFM5 and the Stingray both have the standard 6.7 reload as they have no autoloader and dont have any thermals, but they get DM33, which is why they are 9.3. The XM8 gets the 5s autoloader and gunner gen1 thermals, but with M774, so it is 9.7. The CCVL gets the 5s autoloader, M833 and gunner/commander gen1 thermals, and so it is 10.0. All of this makes sense, and giving the XM8 better ammunition would put it on par or better than the CCVL, and so would mean an increase in BR. Currently all three of the vehicles I have mentioned that are in game are excellent to play, and perfectly capable for their BR, and I expect the stingray to be no different. Personally I would always take the XM8 or CCVL over other light tanks around the BR such as the Type16, Sprut, Radkampwagen or ZLT11 due to their size, the autoloader and their gun handling. Also all of these light tanks with reasonable main guns are a fair bit more effective than light tanks armed only with autocannons, the Bagleitpanzer and 2S38 being the only real exceptions.

Good observations there, I agree with nearly all of it.
I wish we could list blow-out panels as an advantage for the CCVL and XM8 but alas…

I wouldn’t be against this. Actually, I want the XM8 to go up in BR, provided it also gets a better round. it is the only US vehicle at 9.7 so it doesn’t have a line-up. I’d rather have a more capable XM8 to bring along in 10.0 or 10.3. My dream is actually the XM8 with M900, but who am I kidding.
How the CCVL is positioned also doesn’t make sense. It was an earlier prototype that was developed into XM8, and as such it shouldn’t have superior ammunition.

And I don’t care how they are positioned for their BR, when the XM8 is only a available in GSB 10_2, with everything around having a better round for “some reason”, when it should be firing M900.
M833 is the bare minimum addition it deserves.

Unfortunately Sim is going to be inherently unbalanced while its playerbase is lower than naval, and if they were to add M833 just for Sim and not for RB or AB, I wouldn’t oppose it, however Gaijin haven’t done things like this for anything in the game afaik, so it isn’t likely they will do it just for this. I’m sure there are plenty of such examples where vehicles that are very strong in GRB are a bit weaker in SB because of the matchmaking system, and probably some that are weak in GRB are better in SB.

Would be easiest for the XM8 and CCVL to just swap shell types and BRs but that probably won’t happen.
Really would have been better for Gaijin to add the actual Stingray that entered into the AGS competition with the XM35 gun and auto loader… that way an XM8 analogue would at least be tech tree and be more distinct for the US tree but copy paste is just easier I guess.
I think it’s a pipe dream at this point. Maybe the AGS will get it since it’s already at 11.7 but I have doubts gaijin will add M900 to all of the AGS competitors.
