XM-803's APFSDS problem

APFSDS round of XM-803 barely does any damage after penetration. Shouldn’t a 152mm apfsds create a huge amount of spall?

Here’s the thing…

152mm XM578E1 APFSDS
105mm M735 APFSDS

They are essentially identical penetrators.
The only thicker thing about the 152mm caliber is the bigger sabot. But that doesn’t make the penetrator wider or bigger than the 105mm M735

The way 105mm M735 was born is quite literally putting the XM578E1 penetrator inside a smaller 105mm sabot.
