Xbox series X Helicopter flying

Hello fellow war thundereres

Yes, I’m one of those stubborn (opposable thumb dexterity) players so please spare me the “get a keyboard and mouse.”

I’ve been having issues while flying helos. Is it possible to have a smooth flight experience like in jets? Can an Xbox player achieve what Bruce Leeroy does with hotas and rudder pedals on PC? Do you need hotas to perform like that?

I fly pointer aim no relative control.
The first issue is with the pitch, it’s so slow and unresponsive. I use the right bumper for pitch up and the left bumper for pitch down (no dead zone, linearity 1 and multiplier 1). Turning relative control for pitch results in mayhem.

The yaw I guess because the rotor type is always prone to go left. I enable the axis with d-pad down and use right bumper to yaw to the right and left bumper to yaw to the left. But just enabling the axis is enough to yaw left. Turning is broken not smooth.

When hovering, the helo automatically starts pitching up and stays in that position which makes firing atgm impossible because the guiding/fire allowing box is somewhere in the sky.
If I start pitching down if I release the bumper the result is nose bouncing up and down. If I keep pressing bumper well, I crash upside down.

Suggestions? Is the game broken in Xbox? Do I need hotas? I saw a kit with pedals that supposedly works on Xbox.

Thanks

I heard from someone on Xbox that he only used hotas for simulation mode (when playing aircraft not heli) and he said that he normally uses mouse and keyboard for aircraft, especially for mixed battles, where you cannot drive your tank with hotas, because it’s too strange.

For further opinions, join War Thunder Players Club, and find Cmd Straker. He may know (or maybe not) about helicopters.

In my opinion the deadzone on the controller is very bad for aircraft unless you play the arcade mode.
