I think it’s more to prevent people sealclubbing at 1.0 reserve tier to progress grind events, since vehicles labeled as “event” can be used regardless of rank limitations.
Doubt it. There are a handful of 1.0/very low br event vehicles as it is, and while the WW1 tanks are usable, they aren’t good, so there are better options for seal clubbing.
Right I had my hopes up for Aces of Thunder and the WW1 aircraft but this is just awful.
As we have been repeatedly been told “WW1 is a key feature of Aces of Thunder” and this is why we have been denied WW1 aircraft but this “key feature” is 4 aircraft. The Fokker D.VII, Dr.1, Sopwith Camel, and SPAD S.XIII. Also no customisation in the form of unlockable skins. It seems like they have just been tacked onto Aces of Thunder just to try and ship off players from War Thunder who want WW1 aircraft by saying “hey go play Aces of Thunder if you want WW1 planes”.
But also just with Aces of Thunder in general it looks like some aircraft will be paid DLC, like DCS modules except far lower quality. At 1:42 you can see there’s an option to purchase the F4U-4.
It seems like this game might indeed flop unless there’s major changes and that WW1 aircraft will die with it.

i want the prop the Fokker DVII it had a amazing design being able to hang on its prop similar to how a SU30 can hover in place it couldnt do it forever but for a period of time it could

How extensive was Japanese WW1 aviation?
Half-joke, half not joke topic. While I do know that many WW1 vehicles would struggle against even some of the lowest tier tanks in the game - especially just about any SPAA fielding something bigger than a maxim MG - I also think that they offer an excellent and fun challenge into the game, and even help to “level the playing field” when you’ve got level 100 basement dwelling gooner failures (me fr) fighting fresh, virgin new players who accidentally installed the game.
So why not throw in a few WW1 vehicles in a pack for $25, and call it a day? Would they be awful machines? Absolutely. A WW1 Albatross probably won’t like fighting Gladiators, a Gotha bomber is probably going to end up great target practice for the M16 on the ground, and a Renault FT is… also good target practice for that same M16. But it WILL be absolutely a challenge to win in them, and either way, they will either die horribly or win gloriously. And you don’t even need classified documents for them.
And just LOOK at these paint schemes. Just the Fokker they added for April Fool’s is an angel on the wing, and look at the paint on that Albatross. Or that lovely SPAD.
I like the Central Powers fighters a little more, but you get the picture.
Or the WW1 vehicles, they’re pretty neat too - and absolutely ridiculous too. Gun wagon Flakpanzer A7V? Yes, please. Mark I Gun Carrier with a 5" Gun? That looks like fun, doesn’t it? Or about this wretched abomination from the Empire of Ma- the United States of America, the Holt Gas-Electric?
Please, Gaijin. Give us more dumb WW1 vehicles, it’s a great idea, I swear.

Even Italy can recieve WW1 vehicles too, such as the Fiat 2000.
And the number of aircraft are simply enormous.
But yeah, WW1 vehicles are goated to play around without clubbing lvl 10 into oblivion.
Sadly I don’t believe we’ll see another event, with stuff like h.p.12 elevators still being inverted after +1 year, ehhhh, not a lot of chances.

The Fiat 2000! Yes, please! Maybe even give WW1 tanks some economic bonuses, so that there’s incentive for high-LVL players to use them over other low tier tanks? Could help to give new players a natural edge over the high level losers that like beating new players like unwanted stepchildren, like me.

if you really want to be in a stinkbox, you could wish for the FT-17 (same cannon FCM 36 but with no armor and even less mobility).
