thats why there’s supposed to be a solid border between WWI and Interwar planes
Well people… Gaijin got ahead of us on this one. Here’s their new trailer for Aces of Thunder (their VR simulator).
It looks great, I can’t wait for it to finally come out. Hopefully the models ported over into War Thunder.
I believe the same engine is used for both games, that said I wouldn’t bet on it being ported. As many pointed out before, WW1 combat loses a lot of its charm in Arcade and Realistic battles because of the simplistic nature of the flight paired with the third person camera and the unreal manoeuver one can pull in the game. It’s not surprising that they chose their VR game for this reveal, it is the best place for immersive slow paced highly tactical combat like that.
That said, nothing’s out of reach. I’m hopeful, just as you, that they’ll consider expanding in WT.
I didn’t really want to play a whole separate game . . . and I don’t enjoy Sim that much(tanks are ok, but not the planes) mainly because of the cockpit only restriction and I don’t really do VR(not yet anyway).
So a whole new game, to start from scratch, with these “limitations” isn’t really what I was looking for myself. There are already a great deal of these games out there already, we don’t really need another one. Especially with “elitism” carved on it’s forehead.
Hopefully they are using the same Dagor engine and these things can be ported over here as well. I really want to fly WW I aircraft in WT . . . maybe without the near Tail Spin speeds they have forced on us in AB mode, and certainly not in a “one & done” format they use for RB . . . heck, why not bring back a “Historical” mode for WW I & give it some mechanics that are not so far fetched and over sped up like WT has become . . . remember, faster is not better, it’s just faster, that’s all . . . something I would hope the Devs come to realize at some point.
We can always hope, but it looks like making money trumps player’s wants, wishes & desires . . . yet again.
Sorry to sound like a naysayer, I want WW I aircraft as much as anyone, but I can’t help being pragmatic as well . . .
Also, mod response to the subject.
cant wait to not be able to play it because xbox doesnt have vr woop
This looks interesting, although idk for me WW1 can’t come without atmosphere and an importance of the human, like I imagine that pilot would take his pistol and start shooting with it.
Battlefield 1 was pretty cool for me, despite I haven’t played it, I enjoyed to watch streams about it a lot.
Anyway, in general, downwards expansion of WT tech would be cool, but will probably never be a priority for Gaijin, considering how they are focusing on higher tiers now and barely adding anything WW2/Interwar even to tech trees which still missing a large portion of such tech, like Italian aviation for example.
hehe we seeing Ernst Udet’s painted Fokker D.VII that flew for one day
Indeed. There’s also Guynemer’s SPAD. I hope we’ll see the Nieuport 28 in it. It’s one of my favourites.
has that SPAD existed for more than one flight?
Most likely yes (though, if I recall correctly, Guynemer was shot down many times before his ultimate demise) But let’s be honest here, the flashiest the paint is, the more appealing the aircraft gets. That’s why they chose this red and white one.
yes I know, I just still find it funny that out of Udets 5 aircraft they chose the one with the shortest life time
by the way Udet’s DU DOCH NICHT! is also the only WWI Decal I know of that’s already in Warthunder
Same
It can all be ported very easily so it can come to WT
Unfortunately, with the creation of an entirely new game, I would guess we would be lucky to see any of those planes here in WT in less than 2 - 3 years. Depending ofc on how well this new game does, that will most likely be a factor in any decision they make about adding that stuff here.
Although they are pretty adamant about this game is “Not about WW II only and never has been”, that still by no means will guarantee us anything here, even if they do make things for a new game . . . . unfortunately . . . way of the world.
And Gaijin has always been way better about doing what they want to do with/for the game than doing what players want specifically(prolly because those wants are all over the place with such a diverse player base), we have seen that time & time again. Which is ok, it is their game after all. Just wish the lines of communication were better . .
a lot better . . . but . . . C’est la Vie
Its a VR only game so i imagine its going to be too niche to be a big seller, its almost certainly runs the same dagor engine as all the ww2 models are ripped from WT so will probably handle the same too, id imagine it would be a literal C&P job to bring them into WT
Yeah, WW I aircraft/bi-planes were very simple. I kinda have a hard time understanding why they want to make it all complicated. Even “realistically” it should be simple and not as overly complex as it sounds/appears to be at this point. I mean I am sure many will love it . . . just how many remains to be seen.
I really want to be “optimistic” about it, just a little difficult at times, being pragmatic and all, lol(I can’t help it) and going off Gaijin’s “track record” for the 11 years I have been here.
Don’t want to be a naysayer, but there are some obvious . . . “obstacles”
Yeah Aces is pretty much just War Thunder but functional VR. They rip the models from War Thunder and improve the cockpits to make them usable with full VR controls. I’d imagine it would be easier to port the Aces models back into War Thunder as all they would really need to do is omit the code for the VR controls.
I am hoping that we see this done with the WW2 cockpits at the very least, some of the haven’t been touched for years and it would be nice to see them updated.
hopefully the improved models and cockpits make their way over to WT
