The answer is you are buying ability to use higher tier vehicle without grind with bonuses to silver and research. It seems, nobody cares about vehicle quality, because target audience is playing 5-minutes battles with external view and medium or low settings.
This is sad, yes.
Look at sim battles, that are forgotten for years…
People stop caring because Gaijin doesn’t care, not the other way around. Gaijin clearly has shown not to care about Sim or the graphical fidelity of the game, or the balance, or the economy, or bombers, or game modes etc etc.
People would play sim if it wasn’t neglected and left to rot, people would play bombers if Gaijin didn’t disincentivize players from playing them.
I refuse to accept however that charging $40 for a premium plane is acceptable when I could create a higher quality cockpit with 5 minutes of experience in 3D modeling, same with using a player created model like the He 177 to throw into a BP but also not add in a cockpit for a vehicle they charge money and 2 months of your time for.
It is quite obvious that the aviation component of the game is stagnating. I am currently following things regarding the paid simulator Aces Of Thunder and I think that if they launch it, then it will probably be time to optimize War Thunder. There are simply too many game modes…
“fundamentally incomparable”
Nope.
The game being multiplayer has nothing to do with the graphics.
Graphics engine gets a list of things to render, and if made correctly it renders with detail inversely changing with distance to optimize:
These detail transitions should happen smoothly and in multiple steps. But it is currently broken in war thunder. Before 2024 september it was not broken, to state again.
“people in different countries can see roughly the same things on their own monitors”
This again has nothing to do with graphics. Its multiplayer syncing and thats it. Your game instance gets from the server what is where and renders it with your local settings and thats it.
All the problems we are trying to get some support or an update on our bug reports happens in a test drive just as well. There is no multiplayer stuff going on in the test drive I hope you agree.
I’m not sure why you’re arguing with me when I’ve made my stance very clear in this thread that I simply don’t care to argue anymore.
You’ve completely miscostrued the point I was trying to make, which is that Crysis is a singleplayer game with a focus on a narrative driven, limited scope and War Thunder is a multiplayer game with considerable amount of assets per-match that all have their own compute penalty. I am not insinuating that syncing clients has anything to do with graphics, nor am I trying to deny that there are optimization techniques that exist (I don’t know why you linked these).
My point, is that every asset you add to a game has a technical penalty. Whether that be CPU or GPU. You cannot add assets ad infinitum and expect it to run reasonably, it’s just impossible. Since this game is a multiplayer game, the developers had to optimize the game around the idea that there are 16+ players per match, each with their own hardware specifications that need to be able to render what is on screen. Plus whatever AI assets are in the map, plus the map etc etc. Crysis has a far narrower scope in terms of what the developers wanted to achieve and as such I really don’t think they are comparable. If you do, that’s cool, I don’t care. I don’t want to keep having to explain myself or keep having these arguments when I’ve already made it very clear that I’m pretty happy with the game as is, but it’s also okay if you aren’t. I don’t understand why that warrants constant argument in this thread (not specifically from you) but alas, it was clearly my mistake trying to get involved.
Regarding your last point, if there is a bug with the visuals, and it’s been bug reported and acknowledged then that’s all you can realistically do. You are unfortunately at the mercy of the developers that will need to find time to fix it.
Recently I have a bug where the texture of leaves on trees turns blue-pink. Has anyone had this happen?
This appears in ground battles.
The setting of anti-aliasing is likely set incorrectly. What anti-aliasing mode are you using?
This is not what antialiasing does. Come on.
It’s a “texture quality” that failed to load because of a bug connected to VRAM.
Anyway, I’ve tried to change every setting left and right in graphics options.
Ok, I may have had a minor lapse of judgement. Have you tried deleting all the shader files and restarting the game? WT shader files can corrupt. When you delete them, game will regenerate it.
It may also be related to the anisotropy, adjusting of settings in Nvidia app usually can help
I tried everything possible.
I even reinstalled game in new location on another SSD, twice.
I tried different drivers.
I repaired and updated Windows.
I updated BIOS and chipset drivers.
I tried different settings in GPU
I even tried different CPU and DRAM voltage and frequency
And many other things that I found in web
The only thing I can’t try is a different War Thunder version.
No it’s not.
These things doesn’t affect nearby textures.
They work with distant angled to camera surfaces.
" I am not insinuating that syncing clients has anything to do with graphics, nor am I trying to deny that there are optimization techniques that exist (I don’t know why you linked these)."

You are again saying that the game being multiplayer effects its graphical performance.
A single player game is made to be played by just as many different hardware configurations.
May I ask what is your background in computer graphics/programming?
(only because you seem to be an expert in how such things work and dismiss any argument)
By the way, why are you so angry with me?
I presented a clear reasoning in an absolutely mannerful tone.

Sorry that I dare to disagree with you. Good for you that you are happy with the game.
I am not, thats why I made this thread.
Am I allowed to present my facts?
Am I allowed to try having a meaningful discussion about the problem?
Or do I have swallow whatever you write as the truth and thats it?
Lets agree to disagree and move on.
