WT graphics quality 2025

Not much less:

Game director of War Thunder doesn’t agree with you:

As I said earlier, I played with UHD client on a 1060 GPU and everything was OKAY. Then I got better GPU and played at 3K successfully at 100 fps.
Then after some update game broke. And after last two updates it became unplayeable with freezes and texture falls to ULQ.
Again, I’m not alone with this problem!

Are you riding a laptop?

Because it’s not a problem to add another $50 SSD to desktop.

I have about 4 TB of diskspace, 2TB on fast drives and this is totally enough for games.

Btw, 4K textures in warthunder are AI-upscaled HD-textures. That’s why you can’t even read letters on aircraft camos and weapons.

$40 premium released in 2022.

Thanks for proving my point.
All your points are null and void by saying “Just get more storage.”
I already have the more storage.

I don’t play just 10 games, and I don’t use my primary computer for just gaming.
There’s another 300GB of work files.

Also a screenshot of a dev client on a lower fidelity graphical setting is not “disagreement”.
As for your graphics issues: Windows [Operating System], drivers, etc could and would cause it IF your settings are maxed.

Windows corrupted file caused a game crash 2 weeks ago, repaired Windows and smooth sailing.
I’m running the 2nd? most recent NVidia drivers.
I can’t speak for AMD drivers cause no one in my friend group uses AMD GPUs at this time.

@Miragen
Legible text and high enough triangle counts.

What?! No!! That’s peak graphics bro, idk what you’re talking about. (This is sarcasm, don’t get triggered)

Sorry, are you drunk? Really.
Do you think they showed DX12 and Ray Tracing features on a “lower fidelity graphical setting”?
You can set ULQ by yourself and see that even ULQ textures have higher resolution than this bugged mess!

120 GB is far from big game today. It only means that such a big game with thousand vehicles and dozens of maps have tiny textures for all of it’s content.

ULQ makes spotting much, much easier. But it may not work at high tiers due to thermals.

@Flash24rus
120GB is a massive game.

The average game size is <50GB.
Just cause there are a few “Western dev moments” doesn’t mean that’s the norm.
Especially with DirectStorage, any size above 100GB is blatant mismanagement of storage technology, and above 50GB is a “minor” mismanagement.

Average game without tonns of vehicles and environments.

Game with thousand vehicles has to have a skin(s) for each of it. And if it is a decent hires skin, it can’t be 1 megabyte.

Legible text and high enough triangle counts.

Of course you’d defend it.

Yes, cause storage efficiency matters more than the vehicle being as detailed as a Gran Turismo 7 car.
Is text legible? Yes.
Are the textures good? Yes.
War Thunder doesn’t need to be GT7.

World of Tanks is a lower fidelity game that takes up more storage.
DCS has as-fidelity maps with far worse storage efficiency.
And DCS’s Flaming Cliffs aircraft are as-detailed.

The game doesn’t need to be Starfield fidelity, it’s okay to be X4 Foundations [well, higher than X4].
It’s okay to make an efficient good looking game.

And I say this as an RTX 4070 user. If anyone’s regretting their GPU purchases… don’t push regret onto games.

I see you just gave up?

You should read before posting, as you would’ve found out that the bug was fixed.

For you.
Then it happen to other players. Or happen before your report, 3 years ago.

Now it happens to me!

And didn’t you unload UHQ client and use standart client now?

So you think this is acceptable quality for $40 in 2025 so they can save 1MB worth of textures?

It’s okay to make an efficient good looking game.

But it doesn’t look good lmao.

We have this

And this in the same game

image

It’s not even according to their own standards, which are already as low as they can be.

An Italian plane with American gauges and non discernible features.

Why can other planes have this?

image

And this doesn’t even have a texture, how is that okay?

image

There is more detail in a 2002 game.

image

Game size is a complete joke of an excuse anyways when we have a texture pack that is specifically for higher resolution textures and it still looks like literal ass.

Wrong.

Flaming cliffs, or even free-to-play Su-25T (and mustang) are like decade ahead in visual quality from WT models.

You know what looks similar to WT?
DCS’s MiG-21.
Because it was last time updated in 2014.

I’d make sure your operating system is repaired, and your GPU driver is a known-stable one for War Thunder.
Fun fact, I had to run an August version of NVidia drivers until December because that was the last stable version until recently.

And correct, I haven’t used UHQ in years at this point.
The last time I used it was after my RTX 2070 came back from RMA, then a few months later I uninstalled it for more game space cause the textures weren’t worth it anymore for me.
I grew out of my “ooo high resolution” phase, and more care about the level of detail used for the resolution provided.
A lower resolution texture can be very detailed when made well.

As for Su-25T, it’s as detailed as the WT Su-25T.
I know, I flew both.
I stopped playing DCS because of storage and the publisher not paying their contractors over the CEO having a personal disagreement. War Thunder does everything DCS does except radar simulation which is a preference more than anything else; oh and clicky buttons on some aircraft, but I have that in X-Plane.

@Miragen
Try 100MB of storage saved per aircraft minimum.
As for Sagittario-Ariete’s cockpit, that’s what you get when the cockpit no longer exists in the original form and photographs are limited.
It’s still legible, and that’s all that really matters.

Man, I tried everything for the last 2.5 months…
My last resort is going to win11.
I’m on 10 now and just don’t want to reinstall all my software.
The only game I have problems with is the WT…

My problem is that game becomes blurry mess even on standart client (I’ve already tried it) with dx11 and any settings and resolution.
Looks like VRAM leak after 1-2-3 battles. Or even after changing vehicle camo or going to test flight and returning to hangar.

Yeah… I really wonder what could go in these mystery locations… what could that possibly be? I guess we can never know what was in these planes that is also in every other plane…

The lack of pictures must really be why this is the way that it is… SURELY.

image

image

Man even on this picture I cannot begin to imagine what goes there!
image

And without pictures… how are we supposed to know what language would be used inside of an Italian plane… surely it must be American.

I do apologize if any of my statements upset you, by the by; It is never my intention to upset anyone as I get upset myself when others are upset.

As for your post… It might be due to you being on Windows 10 and/or GPU drivers depreciating for that build of Windows, but that’s just speculation on my part. I’ve used 11 since it released.
I’ve had game-specific issues with Forza 7, War Thunder, etc over the years. Usually caused by a driver, sometimes the game itself, rarely the OS tho it does occur.
As for VRAM leak, I know Balatro has that issue in fullscreen; I’m unaware of any for War Thunder but I also don’t play in fullscreen for any game due to multi-monitor and Windows handling multi-monitor very poorly.
