Not that it actually does anything, got spawn killed in a heli the other day, by an enemy heli literally hovering in the heli spawn.

Helipad AAA has been nerfed to be only a warning showing the location of enemies a while ago…IMO this nerf was too strong. A middle way between instant death and shooting cotton balls should have been found.

Even the ones on airfields, now spawncamping is way too easy

The only real problem is unbalance between the units and inability to truely balance them out.

If I want to play planes in GF RBs, I’m able to get out of the match without the crew-lock penalty if I don’t like the map/b.r. i’m on/etc.

When I want to play tanks I’m not able to do that unless I’m willing to wait 9 minutes in order to play the vechicle I would like to.

There is no real option to do some changes that will change how things are, examples:

  1. Let us rise the cost of SP! - That only makes the problem occur less, not solve it. Next thing is that as we have scouting mechanism, the cost won’t be the problem, as mechanism cuts not a fixed amount of SP rather % of cost.
  2. Let us make some objects for air units to attack instead of players! - So people who want to attack only players will still do it.
  3. Let make weapons do less! - yea, so again just making people from other modes angry as you fail to balance one gamemode and problem still exist for open-top vechicles

I could bring more examples, if anyone want to discuss them with me, we have a proper topic for it.

Another thing that in WT You really can’t rely on Your team as they are just random players who want to do their own things. You can’t say ‘oh it is your team fault for not spawning spaa/plane’ as no one has controll over them or no one chooses to be on that team. Trying to justify that the problem exists only due to lack of team cooperation can be used for any vechicle in the game, so there is no point in changing anything if we go with that logic.

So again, people are unhappy and trying to go back and forth about who is good in game, who uses what is really pointless as there are some things no one can really argue with. There is unbalance between vechicle classes (ground/air) that makes tankers not able to defend against a player who they have just killed when he was in a tank.

As long as problem is not properly adressed no one will be happy and game will only be made worse for everyone.

Which you have failed to prove. Pictures I’ve used planes with bombs is showing nothing.

You can believe what you want, I know how I approach the game. Since 99% of my WTing is at least 3 months ago (reinstalled 1 - 2 weeks ago) I am still waiting for actual proof outside of a few games between my AirRB.

Odd I get plane kills (from planes) most matches (if they spawn) but you fail to find that. Very very disingenuous of you.

Especially my obscene Do and Wyvern use! You must have loads of pics of those! Or was that angle of attack forgotten?

I agree to the first 2 points.but nerfing CAS weapons doesnt help. The point of WT is realism, and these weapons, whether its shells from a tank or an AGM from a heli, should do the damage they are suppose to do.

The issue is that they can outrange the current spaa options, so just need more long ranged spaa.

but i think there are changes on the spaa side as well.

  • add recon drones for high level spaa. Gives them something to do when no air targets

  • add an inital wave of ai air targets of spaa to shoot at.

  • increase the reward for spaa for shooting down an air target

There is also a large seperation between the capabilities of spaa and the capabilities of CAS. They need to add more options, to all nations, that are more modern and capable. And fill the gaps. Like britain between Br5 and Br8.

There is also issues with damage models. Planes and helis have a rather limited and frankly outdated damage model. This has perticularly come to light in the recent real shatter changes. Helis can tank a lot of damage. If they went down easier, then the effectiveness of spaa would increase.

Just to say I did watch them eventually. So thankyou for proving I use aircraft to fight off aircraft. The French SB2C one especially (by the way you can’t spawn without some bombs/rockets/torps/mines but not sure if I fluffed a drop or just bailed it for less weight on spawn; that one you just reminded me was an awesome battle in my ARL-44 and newly re-spaded SB2C saving a friendly aircraft (I had wanted to test the 2000lb bomb) and popping some cheeky bird swooping on me, as I did it that, from my gunner sight).

Anyone feel free to check them out, and my other matches where I don’t spawn an aircraft at all. I do leg it from a few matches however.

Still waiting for your proof since so far you have shown 3 matches where I use air to kill air. And the SB2C I get two at once from both ends!

Here’s my take on this, I’m open to any criticism or suggestions.

I feel like air often tends to take the fun away in RB and needs some changes or a different game mode
I think there’s also nothing wrong with testing a different gamemode for it, if it’s not popular then it’s not popular and that’s it.

Usually when the enemy team has planes is when they already have enough SP for them and they have a lead over the other team.
Often the planes simply fly over the spawn, waiting to kill easy targets with no protection that have just spawned in.
You can say “Just take SPAA”, but in reality that’s not a solution. Here’s a few points as to why I think that’s the case:

Firstly, I don’t think I see many people spawn with SPAA first just to sit and wait for the first planes to appear while doing nothing - it’s simply not fun.
As a result people start taking SPAA when there’s already more than just one plane and it’s starting to hinder them or when they feel like they might actually shoot one down.

Second, teams are not coordinated. Often times there’s more than 1 spawn point with a good distance between, and you never know if it will be only just one person or five others that will get the same idea and spawn with anti air.

Third, just because you have anti air doesn’t mean you’ll do much good. You might spawn in, shoot one plane but another kills you.

And finally, if you’re spawning with SPAAs instead of tanks, it just results in you losing more because you can’t contest the objective and fight tanks. While you’re fighting planes the enemy simply gets a stronger foothold on the objective and starts pushing your spawn with tanks instead of air.

I think that CAS needs some work in GRB, but I wouldn’t play a TO game mode personally as I enjoy flying as much as tanking.

I don’t think a short-term event would be a good way to gauge popularity for TO, since you will likely have a surge of people playing it in the first few days it is available and that will taper as the novelty wears off (like most events). But, gathering player feedback after the event has been available would be a great start.

Disclaimer: I only really play WWII tanks in GRB so these suggestions may only be relevant in that context.

These are some game changes I think might make CAS more fair:

  • SP costs for suspended weapons (bombs, rockets etc.) and ground belts for cannons/MGs should be increased. A blanket SP cost increase for all aircraft isn’t a great solution I think, because bringing a fighter is better anti-CAS than spawning an SPAA. One area where this gets hard is any plane with high caliber MGs (.50 cal for example) that gets AP rounds in the default belts, I don’t have a suggestion for that at this point.
  • Remove light tanks ability to reduce SP cost of aircraft by scouting. Light tanks are generally very capable vehicles, they get scouting to help the team and earn the player points, RP, SL etc. A lot of people seem to dislike the fact that you can cap one point, scout an enemy or two and get a fully loaded CAS plane and I can see why.
  • Give SPAA stealth belts. You can do so much work against SPAA using a .50cal with stealth belts because they can’t immediately find you by following the tracers, yet you will always know exactly where SPAA is if they fire at all.

But it’s not only the implementation of CAS that is the problem. Players also need to factor air into their approach to the game. Air superiority is as important as map control. If you don’t cover a flank and the enemy team pushes it, you suffer and might even get spawncamped. In the same way, if the enemy team spawns aircraft and yours doesn’t, you suffer.

“just spawn SPAA” is not a solution to CAS in a match, but “spawn SPAA and use it properly” is part of the solution. I bring out SPAA pretty regularly, and the number of teammates that I see sitting in the middle of the spawn, firing at an aircraft 2-3kms away astounds me. Not only do they not hit anything, they telegraph their position to any other aircraft, getting themselves killed. They scare away aircraft from nearby SPAA that would otherwise have a shot on them. And after all that, they die to CAS and come to complain on the forum that SPAA is useless.

whats the point in AA if there is no planes
Start the planes at the AirStrip
make them go Sim view in RB but with RB control
this would also introduce people to Sim battle without the sim battle control of plane
no spin outs ect
this would even the playing field and still give AA a purpose in game
and also people would maybe be less inclined to spawn a plane and spawn another tank instead

Yeah and they should lose that capacity because it’s just awful. There’s already enough noskill autocanons in game …

Whats the point of CAS aircraft like, strike aircraft, bombers and helis if they arent in GRB. They are almost worthless these days in air gamemodes with the exception of ASB.

Though id have no issues with making some elements of CAS harder. Though id keep it third person. Though no AF spawn is a strange one for me.

Though id delete strike drones. Or at least remove their AGMs and keep them for scouting

Not many. A few, granted, Falcon is probably better than most british tanks at its BR. But most arent all that reliable
