We’ve already seen prototype vehicles in the game before, and now with the new ussr event vehicle, faster and higher-climbing aircraft keep on being added, so it remains a possibility that it is added to the game.
Would the yf-12 actually work in the game, because i’ve heard mixed opinions, and many people say that it would be fairly useless, but it remains a requested aircraft for the game.
What are your opinions on this, would it work or not?

Imagine MiG-25, remove CMs and R-60M from your mind, also remove one R-40RD
you now have YF-12 with 3 (possibly?) SARH Missiles and nothing else
remove RWR
YF-12 will at least have a proper look-down shoot-down radar, but it’ll be a hard plane to use.
If it can fly fairly fast at low alt (I actually don’t know) it might just be a really fat F-104 with better missiles. But if it can’t then it’ll be pretty rough.

The AIM-47 missiles that the YF-12 could use were SARH, but then supposedly it had an IR terminal homing capability too? That could make it interesting.
even if it were ARH/IIR/IOG/Home on Jam Inflarablable, Inchaffable, Notch Resistant and Unavoidable
you’d still have only 3 and nothing else to aid you in combat, no CMs, no Close range weapons whatsoever, not even an RWR if that guy is right

Nuclear Escalation changes the dynamic up quite a bit. YF-12 would be flying higher and faster than the Mig-25 with a fairly decent amount of room. The AN/ASG-18 had a giant PD radar and two IRST sensors that provided a single targeting solution. The IRST sensors would be the first to pick something up and provided azimuth/elevation. The giant 40in radar dish provides slant range, closing velocity, and weapon guidance illumination. This meant that if ECM was deployed by enemy aircraft, the IRST would provide optical LOS for the radar to focus onto and burn straight through.
A damn near unavoidable mach 6 missile coming from space certainly has a role in NE even if it only carries three. That’s plenty.

Both. Mig-25 and Mig-31 not only posses a greater defensive capability (flares/chaff, plus IR guided missiles for defense), but can even turn better than the YF-12 could ever hope to (mfw it has the turning radius about the size of Texas).
You also won’t be getting anywhere near Mach 3 with it unless you can somehow get up to 70,000+ feet. Despite the P/D radar and SARH missiles, I could not see the YF-12 being anywhere above 9.7-10.0…
Idk the missiles and radar would be absolutely devastating at those br ranges. Not to mention you wouldn’t need to be carrying a fuel load for 1000s of km, just a few hundred so the maneuverability and acceleration would be much better.
