Work-In-Progress: Regenerative Steering — Should We Add It? Try It & Leave Your Feedback!

It’s not random, we were provided with exact spalling pattern that would have been implemented.

Players will vote no on steering an we will have aphe situation again. Tank mode players just refuse to align with the theme of the game and rather make it an arcade mess with hp numbers or something.

Gaijin tweaking air or naval seems just fine, no vote needed, here is your upgraded missile physics or naval damage model.

When I say toggle this is how i want it too. Not like the cobra button.

From the feedback I’ve seen in a variety of places, it seems like by far the most popular option has been for regenerative steering to be added but toggleable.

I hope that gaijin listens to the community and implements it like this, at least initially. This gives us the best of both worlds and keeps everyone happy, even if it isn’t the most realistic option.

If after it’s added people then later want a full rollout of regenerative steering to be non-optional, hopefully gaijin can consider that once people have got used to it.

This is just ridiculous, toggle what, its not a control mode, a limiter or something, its a physical transmission limitation, do you want to toggle a type of transmission?

Now every time gaijin adds something I want to ask for it to be toggleable, just for lulz, “can we make new bomber survivability toggleable? Like I want to toggle it off and not play with durable bombers, thx” :P

“I am used to fragile bombers and they will ruin my game by being broken”

It never stops to make me laugh. War thunder is arcade mess already. Unrealistic selfie stick, unrealistic markers, unrealistic red zone, unrealistic invulnerability, unrealistic shooting with your mg through smoke giving you information about enemy you can’t see and hit camera…

Remind me what tanks irl are equipped with the Reality stone to erase grass from their view

We are playing a game where you can magically revive your crew members just because you drive into a white circle drawn on the ground… i dont think this level of realism breaking is a big issue

I remind you that graphics is not gameplay

Except its unprecedented to being able to toggle off a physical implementation of a module, specific to your vehicle, just because you don’t like it.

Can I toggle on reversible transmission on any tank, pls? I don’t want -4kmh reverse.

The key difference here is that clutch braking for every tank in the game is already in the game, adding a toggle is still an overall increase in realism as people can optionally make their vehicles drive more realistically

What you are proposing would be an entirely new feature that is completely unrealistic

I see an enemy tank travelling with 8th gear at max speed and I think: “Oh, ok, it won’t be able to turn fast enough, I can just…”

And then he just spins 180 in a drift because he found the feature not ideal and toggled it off, lol.

Sure, cool, now I will have to think if an enemy plays fair or he toggled off his tank’s features, pros and limitations.

You say this as if your aiming is based entirely off predicting how they will move and not just a reaction to how they actually move, which is the case in 99% of instances

Do people have this issue in dog-fights where people use the AoA toggle switch? No, you just adapt to how the enemy is playing

automatic transmission changes nothing but adds a robot that shifts your transmission up and down. The gearbox and transmission is the same, its, as flying instructor, is a simulation of a pilot/driver’s job. He makes it automatically.

which is a switch that does exist? Contrary to “track brake switch”. That somehow changes the principle of your tank transmission.

Can I turn on swimming on any tank? Reversible transmission? Hydropneumatic suspension? Can I turn “like a tank” on any wheeled transport, not just french?

Your point was that you didn’t think players could deal with the movement style of enemies changing in an unpredictable way, not if it was realistic or not

So you must support all tanks ingame that don’t have automatic transmissions being forced to use a manual transmission, i assume? I mean that’s only realistic, you can’t change the fact those tanks had a manual transmission irl

I want to make a 180 turn with my BTR as if it was french. Standing on place, not driving in circles.

Where is my switch? I reeeeally got used to tank steering so I can’t play wheeled vehicles ;-;

Ok, you want realism, so we are going to force every tank with a manual transmission to require manual gear shifting ingame
