Yes add it without toggle, tanks in WT don’t move like IRL tanks and this is a step in the right direction … no toggle; let’s spice the game.
im all for it. add it for all vehicles that have/had it irl.
This is a MOD and NOT official so take this with a grain of salt!
But here is the M60 with regenerative steering. It actually feels extremely good!
Thanks to @Poi-tato we can test every vehicle with regen steering but like I’ve said it’s NOT OFFICIAL
Okay now I’m wondering why they even choose the Leo 2 to showcase regen steering.
The Abrams SEP V3 is insanely good, maybe even better than the Type 10. Keep in mind that even though it’s good it still “suffers” from the auto transmission keeping it in too high gear at low speed
But again, it’s a MODDED USER MISSION
A drop in speed during a turn is, in itself, a realistic phenomenon.
This is because the turning resistance experienced by a tracked vehicle is many times greater than the rolling resistance encountered when moving straight a clear distinction from wheeled vehicles.
Such resistance is unavoidable when using tracks; even with an improved steering system, turning resistance will still occur.
I believe that the Type 10, due to its low moment of inertia, is prone to executing sharp turns and is consequently subject to significant turning resistance.
I think it would be better if it’s toggleable. Or at least, when we turn and hold S (or break), it reverts to the old steering. Because it seems like if it is not toggleable, I can no longer drift my tank around corners.
Should be added but with an off/on switch included as others said.
Personally have waited for this a while since it would help the mobility problems on the Challengers and Type 10’s which need to conserve momentum due to subpar acceleration. :>
+1
its a good addition for the bigger maps
but it should be something you get to turn on or off
or make it more clear to people that we already have full on brakes for left and right track independantly so people can still have what we have now before implementation
i also wonder, what would be the oldest tank possible for this?
and would it open a window for other steering systems in the future? or will those make less of a difference so no need to think of those?
There you go, the M41 Bulldog is literally perfect. If this tank can behave like this then there is zero reason they can’t fix any other. This whole video was just holding W, I didn’t even have to brake. I know there are a bit too much straights in the video but this thing can turn however I want.
Modded user mission again obviously.
i think an easy way to toggle is to make the regenerative steering “on” only if the W key is being held while A/D key is pressed, if that make sense, basically when ur going foward while steering
I encourage anyone to try this route on the live server with the OES. The game is not only about taking tight turns into alleys.
Modded again of course. But the regenerative steering is just a “toggle”, it adjusts itself based on gear ratios to every tank.
Why not both? When W+A/D, regenerative steering, but when only A/D the steering we have now. That would be the most logic option IMO.
Leclerc with Regenerative Steering;
This proves that regenerative steering is NOT the issue, it’s just and mostly Leopard 2’s implementation along with a few global issues that could be polished.
Can’t wait to try this out on WW2 vehicles, it’s gonna be a game changer
I believe the Char B1. It apparently had a double differential system which was advanced for it’s time
:-D I will just play russia only after the update, smack maneuver mode at first sight of an enemy in my t80bvm, completely run out of energy and sit in place spinning like crazy while trying yeet everything around me while spinning around in ess.
So, i think, they SHOULD call it “maneuver mode” if a toggle is implemented^^
I could make a video for you about any ww2 vehicle. Custom mission of course
My internet just went down though so you need to wait a bit lol
Well it’s not just the Leo 2 trust me but yeah I felt it from the first moment that regenerative steering is a huge improvement, the problems are based on individual tanks and not the system as a whole
Regenerative steering absolutely needs to be implemented
