It was relabeled to Leopard 2A8 later.
The leopard 2a7a1? If so can you kindly provide a link so i can read it? I thought i read the 2a8 was completely new built out of zero hour steel and not reusing older tank parts.
The picture @Skywalker49533 posted has never been the 2A7A1. Again, whats in the picture is just a demonstrator with EuroTrophy, LWS, RCWS etc installed, later named Leopard 2A8. Production 2A8 are still different and build from scratch.
Ah yes im tracking now.
Honestly, always thought they took the 2a7a1 as a base for that demonstrator above, i guess that changes things up a bit, still, what tank was used for that demonstrator then ? I don’t think it’s newly built hull like on all the 2a8s, did they like, take the 2a7v and installed all those ? Is that possible ?
Im pretty sure it mentions it in the links i gave but from what i gather they upgraded older leopard 2a6a3 turrets and built/upgraded hulls to be able to power the new systems. This is ofcourse if your referring to the 2a7a1
nah i was referring to the demonstrator i sent above, the eurosatory 2022 one
Speaking about 2a7a1, isn’t that the basic bitch 2a7 from 2014 ? Actually nevermind, i just checked, while basic bitch 2a7 from 2014 is based on dutch 2a6s, the 2a7a1 is newly built hull+2a6a3 turrets like you said, and there is like 18 of those.
The basic bitcth 2a7s were upgraded to 2a7v standart, well, my question remains open, what is that demonstrator at eurosatory 2022 based on ?
Is it a newly built tank for demonstration ? Did they take the 2a7v and made all those upgrades to it ? Hence why i referred to it as 2a7Va1, it felt to me like a 2a7v+2a7a1 soooortaaa, just kinda curious honestly
I can’t tell for sure, but its known they have some spare tanks in inventory they use for testing and demonstrators - could be any from 2A7+ to spare 2A7 export configs.
Unfortunately i have no knowledge on that
I had the idea that the STRV 123a was only an upgrade from 122 variants to the LEOPARD 2a7 standard
