Since SEAD is now being tested, WW2 Germany had a Anti radiation glide bomb the BV 246 “Radieschen” (Radish)
On a Fw 190F-8:
He 111H-6:
There also was a radio guide version.
I think the thing would be pretty funny in Air RB or Sim especially if they are going to add a feature that allows the enemy team to get radar directions where you are.
Would be interesting but since the SLS BvS10 was never used and never offered its more likely than they will add the Eagle 6x6 SLS for Germany until they have the Boxer one.
Never offered? Wasn’t it literally sent to Sweden to undergo testing for their military, they even put their own radar on it, to my knowledge they are still evaluating it but i could be wrong, i haven’t kept up to date with Swedish SPAA nearly as much as Danske and Norge.
Goodness, here we go again with Sweden and getting “tested” vehicles.
I decided to check to make sure, in 2019 the Eldenhet 98 entered service with the Swedish military but i couldn’t see if it was the Giraffe X1 (model equipped with a radar). So the vehicle is in service with them. Apologies i should have looked it up prior.
They began trial in 2016 and actual firing around 2017-2018 with it entering service in 2019.
^rough general timeline from what i read.
We are talking about Germany though. The only SLS they got offered was the Eagle 6x6 one or a new configuration on the Boxer. The Boxer won. Yes you can probably stretch that out since there is a different configuration with a different radar but it’s basically just a promo vehicle.
I mean to be fair, i wouldn’t be suprised if gaijin added the boxer model in order to have some variety but i wouldn’t be mad if the Eldenhet 98 went to Germany also. Also Shini stated the Eagle was only a mockup, i thought it was completed but im not as well informed on that vehicle, it would be cool to see it regardless imo, im a huge fan of unique SPAA because there are so many factors that go into what a nation wants from budget to terrain and so fourth.
(Skyranger will be insanely cool, more so when other nations skyranger are complete too)
I total see your point but i just doubt it just because it would cause another controversy on their side. I guess they could just put it in as a balance thing and so on.
But as uniqueness goes, Germany has a bunch of really odd prototypes for the higher BRs.
Some guy in a Discord server I’m in has been posting lots of content from Jane’s lately, mostly American, French, and Swiss stuff but a few from Germany did catch my eye.
Fuchs with EM (euromissile) MCT (milan compact turret)
Fuchs 8x8 prototype with M901 ITOW turret
Jagdpanzer 2 chassis with PARS 3 MR???
Jagdpanzer 2 chassis with EM HCT (HOT compact turret? But with 4 tubes)
I think it’s just a standard Milan. Looks too old to be PARS 3 MR.
Here you can see it mounted to an M113
I like more and more the fact that Switzerland is an official sub-nation of Germany, since they have several projects that can fill several gaps or are even better than their German counterparts. In this case, I especially like the tank destroyers with ATGM (they even have their own ADATs) and the Leopard 2-140, which has advanced much more than its German counterpart (the day they add this monster, I will surely buy a Talisman for it).
edit1: Are the Fuchs 8x8 with ATGM German projects or are they from another country?
I suspect its actually the TRIGAN system. Trigat mr on a milan launcher because the missile is most defo not a milan
Edit: its milan thru and thru
The problem with Switzerland as a full sub-nation for Germany is that they don’t offer much that Germany doesn’t already have. As far as advanced ATGM carriers go for Germany, there is already:
the Fuchs PARS 3 MR
and Wiesel 1A2 MELLS
Which is way better than anything Switzerland can offer.
They also don’t offer much in the way of CAS aircraft which is what Germany really needs at the moment.
Yes, all Fuchs projects are German.
Sweden actually did this. We had a few Piranha IIIC 10x10, which were designated Pansarterrängbil 97. One was fitted with the turret of the 9040B, which is the one in the image you posted. Here is another image of it as well
It was only a prototype, there were a bunch of versions that got presented all around the world with no one really buying them. I only found this one as labeled Swiss.
