Haha, as a Merkava Mk.4 TCI can tell you that Merky is so wide and heavy it’s small cannon barely moves it.

thats true lol but i wish more mbt/tanks from all era had more recoil it really lacks esp for 120mm cannon

You say that, but I assume you didnt live the hellish torture that was when tanks had a lot of recoil when firing back when the French got added…

Literally firing light tanks/AML would mean you no longer saw your target or where the round landed because of the kick xD

Simply, players really hated it and it wasnt helpful for gameplay. IRL these vehicles allowed the gunner (or more accurately the commander for a lot of times) to watch for ranging the round which we dont have in game.

A bit more recoil for MBTs maybe, though I really dont want to return to those old days where firing your AML meant the entire thing bouncing upwards.

yeah not for all tanks of course but atm the tanks have literally no recoil modern mbt anyway and even older one like is2 dont have alot esp for literally using naval ammunition

Asside from the fat ass merkava, any other heavy tank like chally or abrams even have recoil?

Light tanks ingame already have it.

T-tanks its expected because they are the lightest mbt.

Rather than the strength of the gun’s recoil itself, I feel that the lack of realism is caused by the overly good performance of the suspension dampers on War Thunder’s tanks.

While modern MBTs have some degree of hydraulic damping, the majority of WW2 tanks did not have dampers in their suspension and relied on friction and hysteresis resistance to reduce vibration and impact, which typically resulted in low damping capacity.

I think it highly depends on what tank it is. Some have worse dampeners and thus the hull recoils more while others have such good dampeners that it really doesn’t effect the hull in any way that is visually noticeable.
