Will we get the AIM-7P Block II Sparrow For All The US Jets As Well?

Just wondering if we will get the AIM-7P Block II for all the Hornets, F-16s, F-15s, and F-14s as well (Including the premium F-18C Early) which included enhanced performance, launch and update system, and finally improved BVR capabilities.

what does the block 2 introduce specifically.
@tripod2008 would u know

I searched it up and it did the AI automation thing for me.

Key features of the AIM-7P Block II

  • Datalink: A new rear receiver allows the missile to receive mid-course correction data from its launching aircraft.
  • Mid-course guidance: Unlike earlier versions that required a continuous lock, the AIM-7P can be lofted to a higher altitude and then guided via the datalink, which gives it increased range and allows it to “self-correct” its flight path.
  • Terminal guidance: While it can be updated in flight, it is still a semi-active radar-homing missile and requires a radar lock for final, terminal guidance.
  • Improved performance: The upgrade improved performance, especially at low altitudes, and made it more effective in cluttered or electronic warfare-heavy environments.
  • Decline in use: It was designed to improve beyond visual range (BVR) engagement capabilities but was eventually replaced in most roles by the more advanced AIM-120 AMRAAM.

don’t we already have that in game

Weren’t Aim-7P navy only?

So the F-18A doesnt get them as a balancing measure.
The Premium F-18 already has them
I dont know why you would use them over AMRAAM on the 14.0 F-18

F-14 I think there was some reason why it couldnt fit them? (has been brought up before and there was a reason for it)

F-15 and F-16 never used them

its not like F15GE used any sparrow varients, might as well give it a slightly better one that it should be able to use

probably same for block 50 f16, and f15c MSIP2 at least in US service

the blk2 is what we already have in game

Giving that GE even the Dogfight version of sparrows would be more use on it compared to those shitty 7M’s …

Why would you use Aim-7 over Aim-120 bar the stock grind?

yeah for stock grind

you should not need to grind through sparrows at 14.3
but if gaijin is making you do that, they could at least give you the better sparrows

Can always be worse, At least you can actually equip them. F3 Late, you have to unlock Skyflash SuperTEMPs but to equip them you have to give up the 2x Aim-120s you get stock

I mean

its the same on f15ge for both 9l and 9m mods

F-14 can absolutely use them (manual confirms this as does weapons capability docs etc) and should get them

Well their are two variants of the AIM-7P I believe we have the first variant which is called AIM-7P and there is the Block II. I think the Block II if they add it will slightly be better than the first variant. But I don’t have a lot of information on the Block II variant.

The AIM-7P in-game is already the P-II
Also, the 7P was USN/USM only. The only other aircraft (excluding for example the super hornets which would have AMRAAMs) that would get the AIM-7P would be the F-14D

if you add a +0.3BR for every Hornets that got them and are currently sitting at too low BR already,… then why not (F/A-18A same BR as F-4EJ Kai)

Navy Training System Plan

This comes from;

NAVY TRAINING SYSTEM PLAN FOR THE AIM-7M/P

“The AIM/RIM-7P Block I retrofit included an upgrade of the MBC in the guidance section (WGU-6D/B) and incorporation of a new fuze (DSU-34/B)”

" The AIM/RIM-7P Block II upgrade included modification of the MBC in the Guidance Section (WGU-23D/B), incorporation of the new fuze, and a new rear receiver."

This is the model that’s already modeled in wt right? Considering it speaks of a rear reciever, I would assume that’s datalink? Although I don’t see a mention of a capability similar to iog…

Not exactly, it’s the regular receiver that all Sparrow use as the baseline when comparing against the return received by the seeker to permit the resolution of encoded closure rate data in the return.

If I had to guess there is software based change to the waveform sent by the PD-ILL based radars that included the guidance commands, which became available due to only needing much less of the earmarked duty cycle for guidance so already had the time budgeted for on their end, sort of like the way that Tele-text (closed captions) was inserted into the VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval) of broadcast TV signals with no need for changes to the display hardware itself.
