Will the new aviation map be available in the ASB?

The developers showed a new aviation map 130x130 km, will it be available in ASB? because this mode hasn’t received new maps for a long time, and the old ones are too small for modern aircraft

Nope. or not yet

I thought it was mentioned already early that it could be added as Sim map, no?

for some reason, it seems like the developers have completely forgotten about this mode

yep, but from what i remember - also were statemens like “maybe in future”

I fear they are just working on Aces of Thunder and have abandoned Air Sim deveopment

Due to the layout of this map. It would actually be smaller in ASB than the prexisting maps for anything that couldnt spawn on a carrier.

What does the one have to do with the other?!?

there are only old aircraft there, although I could be wrong

Aces of Thunder is their VR/Air Sim standalone game. I wouldnt be surprised if the devs that were working on VR fixes or SB development for WT, have transfered over to AoT

So far yes, which would suck if SB was scrapped in favour of it. Though ive heard its not even as good as SB at the moment in terms of aircraft modeling

VR isn’t exclusive to Sim in WT, so jumping from “VR is great in Sim” to “All devs working on any Sim mode related aspect pulled off to do VR stuff in AoT” is a rather large jump…

Perhaps. But I cant think of any other explanation as to why Sim hasnt had an update in like 3 years

Hm, that’s also not quite true, only that the changes were small and infrequent, and not necessarily in the directions we Sim pilots would have desired…

Note I’m not defending the lack of effort put into Sim, far from it, just very skeptical about such assumptions.

Perhaps. and it is unlikely to be the case

But it is nonetheless a concern I have and I know im not entirely alone in that regard.

Why they are even bothering with AoT to begin with when WT and SB exist already is slightly baffling to me.

I’d assume a completely different target group, consisting mainly of (casual?) VR gamers, as opposed to the majority of current WT players.

I don’t think it will replace WT in any way, just supplement it and make the “WT experience” accessible by other gamers. But to be honest, I haven’t followed the development of AoT much so maybe I’m completely wrong…

Which is frustrating, since what we know of Aces means it will not satisfy sim players (flight models too much on rails/too simplified by removal of left-turning tendencies.)
