Will the mig29 9-13 get the r73 anytime soon?

While I understand your point 100%.

With the current state of radar missiles you know notching is just for fun while effective, flying low to the ground is just as effective and more viable obviously so that is invalidated at the moment imo.

The reason I do not consider it a good radar is if you fly any western aircraft, Gripen, Viper, even Eagle, Tomcat, etc etc you will see just how much easier and faster your radar will pick up targets, keep them refreshed and active on your radar compared to MiG-29SMT, Su-27S etc.

When flying the latter I find myself often having to use HDN a lot rather than just standard TWS just due to the unreliability.

Not that this is a problem of course but by far Gripen and M2K5F have the absolute best radars imo.

They are absolutely tip top especially the M2K5F having almost every radar mode available making sure it is impossible to miss anything that is moving in the sky.

It is a direct modernization of the MiG-29 9-12B, and serves as a revised platform for German use.

MiG-29 9-12, absolutely not the 29S.

Flying low to the ground gives and equal ineffectiveness to any other aircraft hugging the deck, whereas notching at high alt can almost 100% guarantee a kill on a low aircraft while disallowing a lock on your own aircraft. It’s a far more viable method than sitting at 10m the entire match, and it allows for much safer gameplay with a much higher possibility of kill.

Well… Yeah. You’re comparing 19km to 10km ACM. Of course it won’t be “easy”, though that’s less than a fraction of the capability of a radar. I personally don’t have any issues with it, and it especially doesn’t have the godawful glitch that makes TWS on any APG-68 or APG-65 unusable.

That has little to do with reliability… That’s simply an issue with improperly managing your PRF modes.

I’d give that to the Mirage 2000-5F as well, though I rarely use the radar past the 2 SARH missiles you get. For what they needed for, they’re quite good.

Ok just so we both are aware.

I am only talking about the perspective in sim and it sounds a lot like you are talking about a RB situation.

So while this might apply to RB which it probably does this is an easy way to die in my personal situation.

Now for this I am honestly not talking about the ACM mode that I find the least disadvantageous but then again just general TWS usage.

This I have to disagree with.

Targets not showing up on TWS or taking a long time to show up on TWS forcing me to go in SRC has nothing to do with me.

That is just quite literally the radar obviously.

Targets showing up easily on TWS with western radars and doing the opposite on eastern radars is obviously radar issue.

I never ever have to use HDN in a western jet unless Eagle or Tomcat obviously but that is my point.

While not a horrible radar it is in my opinion nowhere close to any of the best performing ones.

Thanks for the discussion! :)

Exactly

What I think would make sense is the removal of the R-27ER and the addition of the R-73 Archer in its loadout. Would make the loadout more accurate to what the 9-13 actually used in its heyday (mid-80s) instead of this weird mish-mash that it uses now of R-27ERs which are too new and R-60Ms which are too old. This should also be accompanied by a more realistic implementation of multipathing where Sparrows could receive better multipathing characteristics, allowing a way to counter the close range prowess of the Archer.

My personal opinion. It’s time R-60 x6 replace by R-73 but lose R-27ER from MiG-29 9-13 in major update “Seek & Destroy”
