Will the M168 receive APDS shells?

This could help it the penetration department and also compete with the gepard and other spaa that can pen mbts

Here are some scources:

it doesnt need to compete with the gepard, its a whole BR lower, and the US now has the XM246

what about israel? they almost no spaa

thats at top tier and mostly irrelevant now they have the spyder, but giving the m163 APDS wouldnt have solved that issue because apds is not for killing planes

its not to help kill planes but tanks

yeah but killing tanks doesnt fix the almost no spaa issue you mentioned, also between 7.3-9.7 they have plenty of AA

only 3 spaa compared to other ntions that have 5 - 6

?
they have 4 spaa between 7.3-9.7 and no nation has more than 4 spaa between 7.3-9.7
anyway regardless of how many AA anyone has, adding APDS to the m163/machbet does not fix any gaps because APDS helps kill tanks no planes so does not make the SPAA any more useful for killing planes at the higher BR that getting APDS would put it at

Spaa getting the ability to effectively engage tanks puts them above their ability to engage aircraft.

this would only make vulcan worse. poor thing is already struggling against planes at its own BR. APDS belt would make more people play it as pseudo-IFV rather than AA, driving the statistics and inevitably BR higher, making it even worse AA.

APDS was introduced with the PIVADS version of the M163. It extended the range against air targets from 1.5 to 2.5km.

What needs to be cleared up is whether the standard VADS could also fire this round or if the PIVADS had received a modifications to the gun to accept the new round (beyond the improved ballistic computer).
