Im not ikea pilled enough to get this, is this a swedish Helicopter?
No, it is not, it is a US owned one. However, Sweden has 15 in service and more ordered. and even if the image is a different varient, the hardpoints stay the same throughout the varients
That’d be a pretty roundabout way of getting a MH-60 w/ Hellfires (which wouldn’t be FnF anyways tbf)
A Norwegian or D*nish MH-60R would be the better more reasonable fit imo.
Why you gotta do us like the Fr🤢nch?
The Swedish tree is still in need of a stronger top tier helicopter, and the Danish MH 60R seems like the best realistic option available.
Denmark has been approved to acquire AGM 114R Hellfire missiles together with M299 launchers:
It would sadly not give Sweden DIRCM, but it would be the first helicopter available to the Swedish tree with a MAW system, which would already be a major improvement in survivability.
Another interesting point is the M299 launcher. Lockheed Martin lists JAGM as one of the weapons supported by the launcher:
This could potentially give the Swedish tree access to FnF helicopter missile.
As has also been established previously, War Thunder does not always require a specific nation to have actually operated or fired every weapon available to a vehicle. There are already examples of vehicles receiving compatible weapons that the specific operator did not use.
Because of that, I think the Danish MH 60R would fill a very important gap in the Swedish helicopter tree. Even with only AGM 114R it would be a significant upgrade, while its M299 compatibility also gives it much more potential for future weapon additions such as JAGM.
Regarding DIRCM:
This is more of a stretch than the Hellfire/JAGM argument, but there is at least a documented route for the MH 60R to receive DIRCM.
US Navy budget documentation for Tactical Air Directional Infrared Countermeasures (TADIRCM) specifically discusses DAIRCM integration and retrofit for the MH 60R/S fleet, including a planned retrofit population of 397 aircraft.
So while I do not argue that the Danish MH 60Rs themselves currently operate DIRCM, the system was clearly intended for integration on the MH 60R airframe.
That could make DIRCM an option for the aircraft in game, depending on how Gaijin treats planned/tested equipment compared with equipment actually fielded by the specific operator.
The AGM-114Rs have no tangible improvement over other AGM-114s, especially since they have identical range [11km is what you get from AGM-114Bs if you move forward at 180kph, but Gaijin won’t implement that].
4x AGMs is also worse than the Apache.
It should be added, maybe JAGM should be given but i am slightly against DIRCM, also is it LDIRCM or just normal DIRCM which is found in current blackhawk in game?
it would have 4 which yes is less than apaches
but it would have MAW which the AHS lacks
and if the JAGMs which do fit on the launcher are added its the only way for sweden to have FnF missles on a heli
Would need explicit confirmation that helicopter can use JAGMs.
AH-64E is a software revision.
I’d say at minimum a software revision needs to exist on Blackhawks as well.
plenty of planes dont have the software to use weapons they use ingame
and then to the next poit what else is there
Zero aircraft in-game have weapons their software cannot fire, zero.
The most noted example is the R-27ER which identifies itself as R-27 in older fire control systems, but is still identified & fired.
Cause much like AIM-9M, it’s compatible with AIM-9L launch systems.
the SA gripen im pretty sure is a more limited version that does not have the software to fire all the ground weapons it has ingame
as far as i was able to find yes its LDIRCM, but it seems to be some sort of protoype
thats why its a lot more of a strech than anything else
but i wanted to show that there might be an option
The JAS-39A?
I don’t know much beyond it being able to use AGM-65s & LGBUs IRL.
But yeah, there is still no helicopter option better than the Apache for Sweden to my knowledge.
If AH-64A was a service helicopter, and Sweden upgraded its software, there could’ve been a JAGM version added… but AHS isn’t a service helicopter, it’s a trialed helicopter with the limitations of its trial date.
no the South African 39C
Weird one to bring up cause it has no weapons its incapable of firing…
well the AHS has missles newer than the trail date too which is odd but not the point
and this heli is just the only option that could work for sweden
and i ground vehicles even some vehicles have non existent ammo
the SA Gripen in WT has the GBU 39 SDB
this required the MS20 version (like swedish block numbers/software numbers)
SA has the MS19 version so it is incapable of firing the GBU 39
also the R-Darter was retired before the gripen went into service yet it still has that too
the SA JAS39C has never carried a radar missle in its lifetime
it should be able to fire AIM-120 just fine but they dont have them
but based on this software compatability seems not to matter to gaijin
btw the MH-60R only has 4 missles not 8
and JAGM can be put on the racks but idk if it can properly fire them
though there are other examples in WT where needing the correct software just gets ignored
and there was a DIRCM prototype the US used on an MH-60 airframe
so if gaijin really wanted to it might be possible
