Why was the AMX A-1 removed while Russia gets fire-and-forget missiles at 10.7?

Can someone explain to me why the AMX A-1 was removed because it was considered unbalanced, supposedly because lowering its BR would make it overpowered, yet now we have a Russian aircraft with fire-and-forget missiles at 10.7 and that’s considered acceptable?
The AMX A-1 didn’t have speed, didn’t have exceptional armament, and was sitting at a higher BR. So what’s the logic here?
Is it really better to just remove the vehicle from the game?
I’m Brazilian, and when I finally get to enjoy having a vehicle from my own country represented in War Thunder, this is what happens.
I honestly don’t understand the consistency of these balancing decisions.

AMX A-1A isn’t completely removed. It’s out of sale temporarily and it’s probably to return in a celebration with Brazil as theme like the Air Force Day or something down the line.

it’ll come back don’t worry

you’re right, and perhaps sales played a role.
My frustration comes from the fact that I actually bought the AMX A-1A when it was available.
At the BRs I currently play, alongside vehicles like the Centauro, the AMX has become very difficult to use. Unless there are no SPAA vehicles around, it struggles a lot due to its lack of speed and survivability.
I eventually bought the MiG-29 Sniper to grind Italy because the AMX was no longer practical.
That’s why I think a BR reduction would have been a better solution. The aircraft isn’t overpowered, and lowering its BR could have made it viable again without causing balance issues.

I hope so. My concern is less about whether it returns and more about its current state in-game. I would really like to see it become more competitive again, even if that means a BR adjustment.

I hope you’re right. 🙂

My only frustration is that the new J-22M21A seems to be better than the AMX A-1A in almost every important aspect while also sitting at a lower BR. That’s why it’s hard for me to understand the balancing decisions sometimes. Honestly, my dream would be to see the AMX A-1A at 10.0. I think it would fit much better there and could remain competitive without being overpowered

Thanks for the clarification!

I actually bought the AMX A-1A when it was still sold as a pack. It came with the title and the Brazilian Air Force skin, and for a Brazilian player it was a pretty expensive purchase. I paid what was roughly around 40% of a minimum monthly wage here in Brazil at the time hahahah.
So I’m happy that it’s available again and that more players can get it. My frustration isn’t really about the aircraft returning or not. It’s more about its current BR and overall balance. Looking at some of the newer aircraft being introduced, especially the recent Russian additions, it’s hard for me to understand why the AMX sits where it does. The newer aircraft have access to much more capable weapon systems while also being placed at lower BRs. Personally, I’d love to see the AMX A-1A around 10.0. I think it would be much more competitive there without becoming overpowered.

F&F missiles at 10.7?
You mean IR guided AGM-65Ds [A-10A].

& lower than 10.7…
Ayit w/ AGM-65As at 10.0.
AGM-62As on A-7s & A-4s.

Just off the top of the head.

AMX A-1 also wasn’t removed, and does indeed have good speed while out-ranging Tunguska, ADATS, etc.

Huh? Where’d you hear that it was removed for being unbalanced? Premium vehicles disappear all the time and usually reappear in the future. Take the No.262 in the Chinese tree returning every Chinese New Year (or Chinese Armed Forces Day? one of the two), or the recent return of the XM1 GM.

This isn’t weird behavior, it happens almost every sales.

Also carries a quite competent air to air missile as well. AMX is fairly solid where it sits.
