I do better in top tier jet realistic battles than lower BR air combats, because I’m good at using my situational awareness to judge where the enemy is and I’m good at shooting active radar homing missiles. Why not completely remove the enemy markers from air realistic battles?
I like the spotting system, but I dislike that you can see spotted enemies by teammates and vice versa from a distance
If u get seen by one enemy, then every enemy knows your position. Yeah, that’s terrible.
I believe it was tested in an in game event, players didn’t like it and so the markers stayed.
Something like the ground system (the air alert, not the spotting system) where you call them out via radio and your team gets an approximate bearing and altitude rather then their full name, plane type and exact location would be nice. It would help with the tendency of your entire team to swarm the 1st person that gets seen.
Yeah your idea is great. I want to see enemies and report their altitude, bearing to my teammates but I don’t want to be seen by enemies.
Spotting is good for gameplay but data linked spotting at fox 3 BR is the worst feature of WT.
Because not everyone is as fabulous as you?
Because that would be like removing Red Dots from the minimap in CoD. (Which made the worst CoD to date). The super fast TDM style gameplay heavily relies on it unfortunately. The removal of Markers would not make the gameplay better or more enjoyable, it would do the opposite.
I think we need markers for current Air RB, but they should be significantly reduced in range if Nuclear Escalation (or the mode it serves as a test for) becomes a reality, as a permanent weekend “strategic gamemode” for all BRs.
The issue with markers is that it ruins stealth tactics that rely on terrain masking, and it shares too much info from too far away for everyone.
We can still have the minimap for what the markers do currently, but in my honest opinion markers should behave like they do in sim: a short range identification radius, and nothing else.
Not having so many markers allows to add active scouting (similar to ground RB) and reconnaissance aircrafts too.
Imagine tat with the press of a button you activate a circle similar to how you’d lock with an heat seeking missile, but instead of it being a weapon it’d be a scouting circle you’d have to maintain a silhouetted aircraft in the distance in.
Here’s how I think it could be, to make it more interesting:
Yup.
That’s “Borg Spotting” - if one can see something, everyone can.
This encourages the “mine! mine! mine!” behavior, when, for example, two strikers spot each other down low, and half the team piles in for an easy kill.
