Why no T-72M1 for USSR?

Why didn’t USSR ever get the T-72M1? I thought the Soviet Union originally operated it?

Aren’t they specifically made for export?

The T-72M1 is the export model of the T-72A. The USSR tech tree is still missing the T-72 URAL models though.

There is no point in giving the USSR the T-72M1 let alone any real export variants of the T-72. The whole point of the export series of tanks by the Soviets was so they could sell their stuff to other countries, but which are inferior to varying degrees to the one they use. In the case of the T-72M1 as it is in-game, it has some differences in its design but in terms of it in the game it is no different from the T-72A, so adding the T-72M1 would ironically be copy and paste because you would be getting in regard to the game the same thing as the T-72A already is.

This is also not to mention the T-72M1 could differ between nations because the Warsaw pact countries tended to get still better export variant vehicles than the non-Warsaw pact countries, as the filters for CBRN filters differed as an example, with for example the Indian T-72M1 didn’t have chemical protection with its filters compared to a Polish T-72M1, though as mentioned before this would make 0 difference in the game.

Also, likewise the Russian tree will never get the T-72 (as in the original export T-72’s and is an export version of T-72 Urals), T-72M (also an export version of the Ural series), and the T-72S (the T-72B export model).

uh, it’s the same thing as the T-72A

t72a is the same vehicle as t72m1
