It will only end up as another pointless ranting post so I agree

Nothing is ever as clear-cut cut as that.

It is in this case though.

In War Thunder, Rank VIII is not a “progress prize”; it’s just modern era vehicles.

Most people don’t grind to Top Tier to “feel pride and accomplishment”; they grind to Top Tier because they want to enjoy modern machines.

Ranks don’t determine skill or effort, they are merely a way of sorting vehicles by era.

Some people like WW2, others like myself like the 2000s+.

Why should modern vehicle enthusiasts be forced to grind through 1930s-1970s vehicles for months till finally being able to play with that which we enjoy?

War Thunder has been going strong for 10+ years, it’s not going to die because of this- on the contrary, these vehicles are one of the main sources of income AND interest the game has. I know lots of people who has come to War Thunder exclusively because of modern vehicles and lots of people who play War Thunder, also, exclusively because of modern vehicles.

Gatekeeping modern vehicle enthusiasts by forcing them to grind for months through vehicles they have no interest in is not a smart choice, believe me.

Because that is how War Thunder has been structured, it now has to adhere to this, or risk losing long time support.

So do I, little to no interest in WW2 vehicles and don’t play them, but I still believe you should have to get past them, wether this is using a vehicle a noticeable step below the top (like the T-72AV TURMS) or actually playing them, one should not be able to buy end of the line vehicles, modern or not, I would have the same opinion if the game was limited to WW2 and you had the ability to buy a tiger 2 H variant when the end of the tree was another Tiger 2 H

One of my best friends, whom I got into War Thunder, stopped playing because he didn’t enjoy lower tiers and got stuck there.

During the sale, I convinced him to purchase a Top Tier Premium, and he chose Centauro RGO- and guess what? He’s doing PHENOMENAL on it.

He enjoys it both in the gameplay sense and the historical one, and he’s finally playing War Thunder with me…

And now I have to read people stating that he should have been gatekept from this, that he is a part of “the problem” and that the game will die because he chose to spend his hard earned money on supporting this game to have fun with it?

I think life is just too short and too hard not to simply have fun and enjoying however you want by placing unnecessary requirements or boundaries.

I may die at any time, any of us may die at any time. So yeah, I want to play with the vehicles I enjoy as soon as possible instead of taking grinding through vehicles I’m not interested in like a second job because “I should have to”.

Post is simply unproductive and the OP’s question has been answered already.
