Why is there no rp bank?

Playing for fun and wanting meaningful progression are not mutually exclusive. War Thunder is designed around research and advancement—if progression didn’t matter, the game wouldn’t have a tech tree system to begin with. The RP Bank doesn’t take away from playing for fun; it simply ensures that the effort players put in continues to have value even after they’ve completed a tree.

Besides, Gaijin already recognizes this concept in Enlisted, another game they publish, where excess RP is stored for later use. If it’s good enough there, why not here?

Enjoying the game shouldn’t mean accepting wasted effort. The RP Bank just makes War Thunder more rewarding for long-term players without changing how anyone chooses to play.

I’m just wondering, do you not go back and play lower bracket planes?

By virtue of the research efficiency system, flying out my F4U is a massive waste of research and I should only ever fly my crusader instead.

I do play lower tier planes yes. I play in all kinds of battle ratings

They can come up with more premium features like different levels of VIP privilege, example: super VIP that can opt out CAS modes in ground battles, you bet you can turn some of those 80% freeloaders into spenders. And also do rent-a-vehicle that let players rent the marketplace items like IS-7/E-100 for $10 per day or something, you can even use this method to temporary make people pay for the tech tree vehicles they hadn’t researched. lol

The statistic he listed is 100% useless either way and doesnt paint a clear picture of the actual situation

I mean, other than they enjoy playing the specific vehicles. Just because you have unlocked all the vehicles doesnt mean you never play that nation again until something else to unlock.

I have 69 million convertible RP that is my RP bank. Its free to accumulate but cost GE to withdraw at an absurd exchange rate of 1 GE to 45 RP. I really think this should be increased to 100 Rp to 1 GE

If they added a free RP when a new vehicle comes out, they loose revenue on people who buy GE to unlock the vehicle right away, and loose time of people playing to grind out the new vehicle. This game is only around to make money. All the stuff we love and hate about the game is due to money. Making it easier to get brand new vehicles would hurt the income of the game. Unless you want top tier to be all premiums they have to get money from someplace to keep pumping out content.

I also never fully understood that “completionist” mentality, they make it sound like every time they play the game, they absolutely have to make progress or something, for me that is surely not the reason I play the game lol

You’ve completely missed the point. I don’t play War Thunder to unlock everything—I play to use the vehicles I actually find cool, which are often the newest, most modern additions. These vehicles take an enormous amount of time to unlock, and I have a limited amount of time to play. The RP Bank isn’t about ‘completionism’; it’s about making sure that the time I do spend playing isn’t wasted when I reach the end of a tech tree.

Your example of convertible RP isn’t comparable because it requires paying GE to use, which defeats the purpose. I’m not asking for free RP—just that the RP I already earn doesn’t go to waste.

As for monetization, Enlisted, another game published by Gaijin, already has a free RP reserve system. Clearly, Gaijin has found ways to implement a similar feature without killing their revenue. If anything, an RP Bank would increase player retention, keeping people engaged instead of burning out when they hit a dead end in progression.

Not everyone plays War Thunder the same way. Just because you don’t care about progression doesn’t mean it’s unreasonable for others to want their time to be rewarded.

You’re approaching the game as a job. Min maxing time playing vs reward and thinking you put X amount of time in, you deserve X amount of compensation. yes gaijin has other games with other mechanics but it doesn’t mean that this game would benefit from it. You are obviously still playing even though you are annoyed with the current system so their retention aspect of their game is still working.

They could also make actually desirable premium vehicles too.

If I wanted a premium F4U-4 to grind SL with, I cannot buy one. I must either buy premium account (not worth it imo unless you can play every day), or buy a weird prototype prop you don’t care about.

For every prop and jet that I care about, the only premium options available are:

  1. In the wrong tech tree
  2. Only available on Gaijin market
  3. Only available on Xbox (???)
  4. Doesn’t exist.

I wish gaijin sold “Silver Lion talismans” that gave premium-style SL earnings for an aircraft.

This removes the issue of “people would skip grind by buying the jet they want so business model breaks” and also “why is the same plane in tech tree and also premium?”

While it allows people like me whose main issue is silver lions (sim spawn cost : Useless action economy my behated) to buy a premium and not feel dirty for flying an bluefor bf109F4 or a redfor P-47.

You’re misunderstanding my perspective. I don’t treat War Thunder like a job or purely a min-maxing exercise—I play because I enjoy using the vehicles I find cool. The problem is that many of the vehicles I want to play take an excessive amount of time to unlock, and I have limited time to spend gaming. The RP Bank isn’t about demanding compensation for my time—it’s about making sure that my effort isn’t wasted when I reach the end of a tech tree.

You mention that Gaijin’s other games having different mechanics doesn’t mean War Thunder would benefit from them. That’s true—but Enlisted’s RP reserve system shows that Gaijin already recognizes the value in not throwing away a player’s progress. Applying a similar concept here would ensure that continued play remains rewarding, even for those who have finished a tree.

As for retention, yes, I still play the game—but that doesn’t mean the current system couldn’t be improved. Plenty of players get burned out and stop playing when they feel like their time is being wasted. An RP Bank would keep long-term players engaged, not drive them away.

Because your first post makes people think that way, like you refuse to continue to play the vehicles you unlocked because you stopped gaining rp from playing it, hence my response to this statement lol

I’m not saying your wrong, I just like to look at things from a business aspect and give counter points. It feels good to have progression, and with all the vehicles now in each tree, i feel we could benefit from an RP overhaul and see a reduction in RP points needed to get to the next vehicle. The 5 games with 100% bonus is ok, but far from enough to reduce the frustration. Put it in the suggestions and see if you can get that change done.

I made a post on the forums a year or so ago about the Test flight and getting to spawn at altitude and things to bomb and shoot down that re spawn, and we got it and i didnt put in the the suggestion, but you could get more traction there.

I don’t avoid playing my unspaded vehicles because I refuse to play without RP gain—I avoid them because I’m specifically saving my RP boosts and bonuses for future vehicles that I really want to play. China is expected to get some exciting jets soon, and I don’t want to spend an entire month grinding just to access them when they release.

This is exactly why an RP Bank would be useful. Instead of forcing players to choose between enjoying their current lineup and preparing for new content, it would allow progress to be stored so that when an eagerly anticipated vehicle arrives, we can access it sooner without needing to drop everything and start another lengthy grind.

It’s not about refusing to play for fun—it’s about making sure the time I do spend playing is efficiently used so I can actually enjoy the vehicles I look forward to the most.

From a business aspect you could say that all the pay to win stuff WOT did was justified but that eventually completely killed the game…

Without knowing Gaijins definition of players, the figure is useless. If they consider every account as a player (which they have done in the past), then 80% of their “players” has probably never played in 2025.

Would be neat to save the modification rp boosts, sense most tier 4 completions give at least 2 days worth of playing for your next vehicle.
And if we do get rp reductions across the board, then limiting it to getting half of those rp would still be alright.

Only reason i haven’t Spaded my 15a yet is cause of the f18. (that poor power crept plane)

That’s no RP bank. If you removed the actual visual of “RP” then it wouldn’t be any different people would still use GE.

Without transparency about what data that is based on, it’s useless as a talking point—especially when they have something to gain from misrepresenting the statistic.
