Imho the T-72A is one of the best 9.3s(mostly cuz all the other MBTs are 9.3 are either fake light tanks or slow as hell,) but can’t really go up to 9.7 since it’s far worse than the Turms.
its also much worse than the t64b (which should go up tbh)

We need new discussion there a chance of both T-72 and the T-64a get a reload buff next update. Will that make a huge difference for the BR?

The protection difference between these 2 is quite significant, virtually all apfsds that face it will pen the hull, even theapds on the chieftains, the t72 does stop 105 dm 23 and even ofl f1, which is a pretty popular round even at br lower than it.
I dont think that a second of reload outweights a better protection and the laser range finder(btw for a 9.3 it does make a difference as almost all vehicles at 9.3 does have a LRF)

For the T-64B it should do, 6s autoloader is a decent upgrade over the current one, so 10.0 is definitely warranted, for the A though, I don’t think it should go up.
The T-72A and M are 9.7 material anyway and need to go up
As u said the diffrence is only at the ufp and only against strong apfsds and also its a volumetric hell so no one aim for it regardless
And u can manage not having auto lrf just use it manualy yes its a diffrence but not so big

Look at type 90 for exmple how good it is only bcuz the 4 sec reload compare to the avarage of 5-6 (here is 6 compare to 7-8) or the french 7.7
the difference is against weak apfsds… the mbt 70 apfsds can pen the hull of the t64a and it is one of the weakest at this br…
the type 90 have an extremely hi mobility for an mbt and the french autoloaders at 7.7 does not have a reload difference of 1 s for its peer, but closer to 4s, thats not the case on the t64.
It is a big difference, specially if you have to fight at long range or have to use he, keep in mind that you have to compete agaisnt vehicles that have it.
Not to mention that you also lack other stuff like smoke granades or the .50 cal which even if they are situational they are a disadvantage.
I think we can put the T-64A to 9.7 if Gaijin give them the 1979 upgrade, which is basically similar to the T-72A. Basically look like the T-64B without ERA.

The lack of 50 cal and smokes is a bit annoying but thats why it gets a huge buff that will more then makes up for it
