Even when killing helis. You can’t handle most of the heli rushers as they pop up from about 2km out meaning it’s almost impossible to aim the missiles. You have to lead it as if it were a cannon so I would rather bring an autocannon at that point.
honestly the helis, especially if they stick their head up too early, arent the problem. the problem is the fast jets. your missiles randomly phase through them for seemingly no reason at longer ranges, and at close range the crossing time means the missiles cant turn in. you can (and i have seen other people do this) 3rd person and basically shotgun them whilst the missile is in its first, unmanouevrable phase, but ive had no luck whatsoever. it doesnt help the Search Track system is really wonky sometimes too…
Even against helis I have managed 16 phase throughs in a match, there’s just no way to visually lead them accurately while accounting for server client mismatch. When using them in 0 ping test drive they still aren’t good enough, it has the same guidance as a m2a3 or bmp-2m. It needs proper guidance options for a dedicated AA system. The armor piercing nerf should be removed as well, there’s F&F spikes and 18km AA units now, it’s no longer the unique threat it was when introduced.
I think what they need to do short term is the same thing they did with GBUs, just whack up the numbers, like prox fuse range, until they can actually fix the code
Yeah. A meter proxy fuse on the Starstreak should fix the issues for now.
So what I’ve surmised from a glance at this thread, needed changes are as such:
Stormer shouldn’t change lock from an aircraft onto flares or missiles
Stormer should have automatic leading
Stormer should have an 18km detection range against jets/aircraft
Stormer should have an 8km detection range against helicopters
Stormer should not trigger LWS
Starstreak should not trigger MAWS
Starstreak shouldn’t detonate once it reaches 7km
Otherwise, a bug retaining to the Starstreak missile phasing through targets needs to be resolved or addressed. In the interim, it would be prudent to to give the Starstreak a proximity fuse to resolve bug issues regarding the missile phasing through targets - or give the Stormer the Martlet LMM.
Edit: Starstreak should not lock onto friendly aircraft.
It shouldnt detect flares at all, it filters them out.
Rather than automatic leading it is auto aim. The system guides the missiles by itself, operator just have to make sure that it is locked on the target.
Yes but no. We are keeping it at that, as it is a publicly known battery time.
Shouldn’t accidentally lock friendly aircraft either, it has a friend or foe system
At this point i’m guessing the British tech tree has turned into a study on how many flaws can people pick up on
More like how many can you fit in one TT
It isnt if it was working like it should, Gaijin are either unable to properly make it work or they arent interested in doing so. Decide for yourselves what is worse.
However they are interested in adding a multitude of T-80s whenever they get a chance.
It might, depends on the MAWS. Though flares and chaff shouldnt really do much, but you would get some warning. The type in something like the Ka-52, probably not
1km from what I’ve heard.
Yea, the darts themself are rather small, so it take MAWS longer to react and classify them as threat. Up to the point where you can not react. Thank got the missile will just pass through you
Sorry for not posting anything since last year.
Took me 5 seconds…
The biggest issue, above all else, is that even though it is (very clearly) inaccurate to reality since even the public documents from the manufacturer seem to be ignored, the Stormer is underperforming immensely in-game. It has almost no ability to engage a moving target, after multiple missile “reworks” left it basically paralyzed in combat. The Stormer HVM got uptiered from 9.7 to 10.3, then had its overall performance brought down to the point that its BR is irrelevant due to being useless. It has a deadzone that covers most of its entire firing range, which was not always true in-game, and if an enemy is moving it simply has a close-to-zero chance to hit it. On top of this, the missile frequently phases through enemies even if you do ‘hit’ them because of colossal desync problems.
It is simply not a usable vehicle in War Thunder, giving Britain an effective AA gap of 8.3 to 11.7 where we get a cut-down ADATS (that is somehow magically more expensive than the American one which has a backup APDS autocannon). The inability for the Stormer HVM to function is not subtle, and I would pay money to actually see a Gaijin developer try and pretend like it’s usable against any target that is moving in a ground RB battle.
Im getting kind of impatient, should i make a post in the MoWD about LMM, so everyone can come, see, vote and share what they know?
Even the ADATS M113 isn’t the greatest.
I don’t get why it’s at 11.7. It’s 11.3 at best.
Missiles barely do anything to tanks at top tier, and even though the missile has 6 miles range, hitting a target is a gamble unless it’s within 4 miles, at which point it’s a threat to your team.
As other have mentioned, stormer with LMM as an upgrade would be a nice interim.
Anno Domini 2024
Looking forward to another year of the vehicle being unusable in its role and the joys of this thread.
