Why is the Stormer HVM so bad?

UK are getting more LMM missiles in stockpiles. Further confirming their use, as if it wasnt already confirmed.

I’ve been playing with the Rapier and I must say why did we get rid of it for Starstreak when it is clearly the better aircraft destroying system. I mean honestly the British military should contract Gaijin for their insanely smart and intelligent ideas

im just sad it doesn’t speen anymore.

Doesn’t what?

spin. the warheads used to spin around each-other, however afaik they don’t now? now they just travel straight with no rotation. I havent played stormer yet (havent had the time) but from what ive seen thats how it works now.

edit:
just tested it quickly, yeah they have no spinning anymore, or at least if they do, its so slow its barely noticeable.

This is good news

It’s not accurate though. From what I can find, the submunitions spin around the laser in flight for aerodynamic stability and so they should be spinning. The spin is introduced by the missile itself spinning to introduce centrifugal force, to deploy fins before separating into submunitions.

While we are talking about it, I’d love to see the caps fly off and be clutter objects like the spent shell casings from autoloader tanks before you fire too.

There is quite literally no physics in the world that can describe how the darts can spin around a fixed point. Keep in mind that video has no footage of the missiles in flight and the 3d render shows the hitles stop rotating about 1km from the launcher

Ignoring the commentary, this is the best video I can get of the submunitions in flight. they aren’t traveling across their own static lines ((they aren’t traveling straight)) and they do in fact move around the laser. Hard to tell if they are spinning, or if they are just moving towards the laser and away from it, but they aren’t traveling the same way as they do in the live server currently.

Ok, makes sense on one hand (darts), no sense on the other (carrier). Ah well…

Tried the Starstreaks out a bit yesterday, and am far from impressed. Managed 2 kills in I think 6 matches, with 5 deaths. Yes, the weapon now is much easier to use, but I’d still say the Rapier is far more useful:

  • IRST is very easy to blind with flares
  • Lack of IFF doesn’t help
  • Works best in frontal or rear aspect, not much hitting chance in side aspects
  • completely useless against drones

TLDR, this thing would die to competent KAs, SU25s, Mig23

That’s the important word here, yes.

A-10’s too, of course: First A-10 I encountered yesterday dropped flares constantly, so no chance for me. The second one didn’t drop a single one during his whole run, straight onto the battlefield: Easy meat…

Despite the explosive weight change, the lethality of a dart hitting has not changed much.

Completely useless vs drones as said before.

Target tracking is much worse than before.

Worst thing is the bug that stops you from using ACM lock.

Bro the starstreak is GOATed at all aspects. Just bad against drones. Need LMM.

Only thing with starstreak is i hit russian helicopters straight through the front and they survive. I think ive hit some directly 3 times before they go down.

I just feel like a set of mach 3.5 darts coming through the front of your helicopter and detonating should kill it instantly and first try,

Pfft aim for the weakspots, skill issue.

But yes shooting Russian helis often feels this way

But that’s a pre-patch vid…

Yh when it had more explosive. Now it has less so it will probably be even worse. Gone from like 450 to 50g right, probably going to take more hits now.

Three cheers for the stormer being made worse, yet again.

I didnt want to say anything but it truly does just feel worse. It now wobbles instead of spins making it a real pain in the ass to hit anything when you manually guide it.

Have’nt had the chance to use it against a manoeuvring jet just yet but against helis it is far far worse at taking them out.
