Why is the Stormer HVM so bad?

Is the stat card wrong then or just shows the mean speed?

No problem with desync for who? desync is not a uniform problem.

the speed of the starstreak is classified, but the latest version is supposed to be faster based on reports that it has a burnout speed in excess of mach 4. the impact speed should be similar for the 2 given the worse BC of the 95Ya6. the starstreak projectiles fly in a ~1.5m radius, which is far smaller than the 9m proximity fuse of the 95Ya6.

Max speed in stat card. Same as G-overload. So the stat-card tells us very little about the actual behavior of the missile.

That’s the burnout speed, the impact speeds should be similar if gaijin models ballistic coefficients. the speed of the starstreak is also an estimation, the base version is stated to be in excess of mach 3, the newer versions in excess of mach 4.

The documents gaijin use state a speed of Mach 3+ with others saying close to Mach 4 where has in game even the old stat card stated exactly Mach 3 and the was reduced in a recent update. Maybe we could argue for the newer missiles but even then gaijin might just take the lower value. Do we have the exact speed and or delta v from the files for the star streaks?

The statcard number is mach 3.278 assuming a speed of sound of 343.2 m/s.

Fuck, I think I’ve been miss reading this entire time then…. How fast is the pantsirs missile then to be even faster than that?

Remember for speed of missiles you probably can read them very easily with the new sensor mode in the replays

Haven’t even tried looking at it yet, I thought it was more for air than ground.

I believe it works for all missiles

Just another example of them assuming the worst for Western equipment, when they assume the best for russian tech. Reality is the opposite.

Mach 3+ velocity - in game ~ 3.3 mach max speed

3.5 secs flight time to 3 km - in game 3.3 - 3.5 secs

In terms of speed, everything matches the Thales statement.

A joke is, that enemy planes see the projectile incomming…

The one thing I wish they would remove is the sound missiles make. People can hear super sonic missiles coming towards them in jets and helis wich gives them a massive advantage to countering them.

Yeah, that’s a problem. I’m too think it should be less visible without that huge red tracer. I keep trying to find a good video with starstreak. But almost nowhere can you see the missile flight itself. Usually only launch and hit.

You also have the added thing in WT, that laser intensity isnt modeled. IRL, its unlikely that a heli like the Ka-52 would detect that a Stormer had locked on with a laser as it has a low-intensity laser. In game. they are immediately warned of the lock and start reacting before you’ve even fired

I think that goes for any helicopter. Most laser warning systems produced so far can not detect laser beam-riding missiles because of their weak emissions which have signals less than 1% of laser range finder power.

And it pretty impossible to add this feature because there 0 data about laser intensity of different beam riding missiles and almost 0 data about different lwr sensitivity. It would be 99.9% imagination of devs.

Yet they actually impelemented to tanks that has LWS system.

Current beam riding missiles fired from helicopters doesnt warn ground vehicles that has LWS system, i believe same thing can be done to helicopters easily.

The reason because of this is due to low power lasers…. I wonder what other vehicles have this. It’s just gaijin not picking what is added to fit their “balance” they really couldn’t care less about realism.

Might be, what im saying is it will be a good choice to start.
