this means the round has already penned the tank if its reaching the chobham space of course it isnt gonna tumble, its either going to lose all penetrating power and stop, or keep going until its kinetic energy has ran out. Not to mention you can bounce rounds off thin metal at the right angle and thickness depending on the round used the armor could be 5mm thick and at 80 degree angle and bounce it just depends on the round.
Side note you also do realize tungsten is well known for even shattering from slight drops right? Its incredibly dense but prone to cracking easily.
Since I dont know what your asking here because its broken English, I’m gonna guess your asking if composites can be used as apfsds, and again the answer is no. Most are made from incredibly dense materials such as Depleted Uranium or Tungsten. Though composite materials can block or even bounce apfsds.
PELE rounds could be considered composites, with a core made of light, low density material and inner penetrator jacket made of tungsten, and exterior made of steel or aluminum.
If composite definition is loose enough, then almost all APFSDS ammo that has a heavy metal penetrator inside a lighter metal jacket is composite.
Crazy how I’ve literally never claimed to be good in the abrams.
Am I good in the abrams? Nah.
Do I understand that it’s still a good tank? Yes.
Good doesn’t have to mean the best, and that’s the issue. A lot of US mains want the absolute best and when they dont GET the absolute best, it’s Gaijin’s fault.
Autoloaders are a good idea, it’s just that the Russian T-Series uses an extremely dangerous one in a vehicle that isn’t really that good for the modern battlefield.
Small tanks aren’t better than large tanks anymore. You’re actually better off using a large tank these days.
I really hate the way spall liners were added to this game, as well as the way Gaijin refuses to give the Abrams actual useful turret neck armor. It’s ridiculous. Then, people act like you want the Abrams to be some kind of super tank when you want a round that can penetrate your enemies and a turret neck that actually stops AA and IFV autocannon fire lol.
Instead of asking for a spall liner on the Abrams that it didn’t receive due to weight issues on the contract, ask for Flak Vests. The Abrams uses them instead. Also ask for a decrease in turret spall or a modeled turret basket, which might help absorb some spalling.
It’s pretty bad, yeah. The Weak point would be less noticeable if maps were larger, but until we get stock rangefinders, I don’t want maps to become larger.
Also, Gaijin really needs to add that DU upgrade as a modification for the v2 and allow the removal of the useless ERA blocks.
Is that so? I’ve always been told it was an Abrams thing. Even then, while the Abrams doesn’t have a Spall Liner, it can still receive buffs to balance it out. Spall Liners are useful, but due to Gaijin’s buggy game, they sometimes just don’t work lol. I’ve had my Leopard’s Spall Liners actually double spall and kill all four crew from a side shot lmao
Why not? I’ve had my Merkava’s Trophy actually stop a Kh38 in-game surprisingly. It’s also extremely useful to not die to Helicopters.
Casually has one of the worst armor profiles and worst mobility (specifically the V2, which this topic is about).
Many main battle tanks in this game are suffering, especially minor nation vehicles. I’ve been fighting for a Merkava buff for quite some time, but I refuse to ignore the Abrams’ current situation. The vehicle is miserable.
Agreed. The Leopard and T-80 are just stupid good. Even the T-90M, which is a pretty good MBT, is better than the Abrams most of the time. The Armor effectiveness is just nuts comparatively and its more mobile due to the weight.
(Which is wrong. The T-90M should weight around 53ish tons based on the manual that got leaked)
Agreed.
It should also receive the DU upgrade similarly to the T-80B with Thermals.
It’s hard to say. The SEPv2 came around during a time when the US wasn’t fighting other MBT. The main priority was trying to increase survivability against insurgent forces which used irregular tactics. It’s entirely possible the V2 didn’t get a hull DU package to cut costs and weight.
