Why is the Gepard (and some contemporaries) at 8.3?

Something I noticed recently.
The Gepard is 8.3 and the ItPsV Leopard is 8.7 despite the fact that the Gepard that, unlike the ItPsV, has separate search and track radars, more ammo (680 rounds Gepard vs 500 rounds ItPsV), and the EXACT SAME AMMUNITION. Why the BR difference?

The only real differences I can see looking at the Wiki is that the ItPsV has marginally better speed (+3 kph forward and +6 kph backward), although it has a 59.6% increase in hp/t (18 hp/t Gepard vs 30.2 hp/t ItPsV) and marginally better armor (+10mm front and sides of hull), but noticeably better gun elevation speed (29.4 - 42 */s Gepard vs 42 - 60 */s ItPsV), and even then the improvement of speed and armor are rather insignificant, and the elevation rate really shouldn’t affect BR that much. No idea how much LRF would affect BR, but considering they are SPAA I can’t imagine it would be that big of a deal, unless you spot some Light Tank.

I will say I don’t have experience with either vehicle as I don’t have either, but if we’re just comparing vehicle stats from the Wiki (not player performance), they should both be at the same BR.

Also feel free to mention other Contemporaries to the Gepard that you think should be 8.7 (cough cough PGZ09 being discussed in different thread)

The main reason everyone says it’s so much better seems to be the mobility increase with more hp/t. Can that really make that big a difference?

the ItPsV 90 is insanely fucking fast, it has 1500HP and is mounted on a LEOPARD 2. It can (with skill) win entire games a minute into the match by vaporizing the enemies first push, and allowing your team free roam over half of the map

That thing is literally a menace at its own BR. Excluding Light Vehicles,it is the fastest tank at that BR bracket,meaning it can go into a flank route so early in a match that it can shred the enemies with either the DM23 belt or the DM13 belt

The ItPsv and the ZA-35 are rarely used as SPAA and more used as tank hunters due to their ludicrous speeds and fire rate

im not even a good player, but I paired the TAM with the Gepard and got a nuke with only the Gepard in a 8.7-9.7 uptier

Try the Tam 2IP, I rented it for 12 hours (and only played a hour out of it lol) and it is so dirty with all the things it has at such a good BR

i have, did the warbonds one, its pretty good, but high tier is super repetitive

Can the extra horsepower make that big a difference? its basically just Gepard but better acceleration, is it not?

Yes,it does. Better acceleration=Less time required to reach top speed=less time required to reach critical positions.

Just look at some videos on YT of players using it and you’ll soon notice how that thing basically cruise through the map early in the game

my guy, it’s literally 3 kph faster forward. the biggest difference is the extra hp/t, which I guess does get you to top speed faster, but i’m betting if people tried playing the Gepard similar to the ItPsV, it would work pretty good.

The Gepard is played very much like the ITPSV, except the Gepard almost never reaches its top speed. STATCARDS lie. Never base a vehicle off of them.

Anybody know why AMX-30 DCA is 8.7? By all means, it is comparable to Gepard, and seems like an 8.3 vehicle.

Since it seems you’re putting too mich attention on this “3 kph faster” thing here’s a video of someone playing it .
Just look at how fast he is against any enemy team,and you’ll understand why this thing deserves 8.7

yes, I know it deserves 8.7, i’m not saying it should go down. I’m just wondering why contemporaries are at a lower BR than it is

And ZA-35 is justifiable at 8.3 only due to not having APDS.
