Why is the A-7K unable to takeoff from carriers

I don’t know why the A-7K isn’t able to takeoff from the carriers in test flights or sim. Does anyone know why this is or have an idea? The A-7K is a naval aircraft so I’m not sure.

It isn’t. K model is a training aircraft derived from the land-based A-7 series, and lacks equipment necessary for operating from aircraft carriers as a result.

Ok thanks. I guess it was just confusing seeing a hook on the end

alot of non naval aircraft still retain the arrestor hook since some runways have an arrestor cable at the end in the event of some major failure

…whcih I think is handled very badly in WT, as it allows at least landing on an aircraft carrier as soon as one has a hook. This is however completely unrealistic.

Yes, a lot of land based NATO aircraft are equipped with arrestor hooks for emergency landing on specially equipped airfields, but those aircraft are not structurally designed (with exception of land versions of carrier based aircraft, like A-7, F-4) to (repeatedly) withstand the rather larger stress of a carrier trap compared to the more modest stress of a land based arrestor system.

The A-7K, while it did retain an arrestor hook in Air Force service, had the catapult assembly on the gear removed. Therefore it cannot be launched from any naval decks.

i know this is in reference to it not spawning on them, but the A-7E is a pain to use on carries. it first of all instantly rips its gear on take off unless you’re very fast with bringing the gear up, and because its gear is canted slightly inwards it likes to be very unbalanced and tip its wings into the ground. also the fact you cant use your airbrake when your gear is down doesnt help with trying to slow down enough to land properly.
