I am trying to use some bombs with Activate Target Point. I have ATFLIR Targeting Pod on Super Hornet. I am putting target point via big map on enemy airfield. When I switch to targeting pod view, my Target Point which is red square stays still. But whenever I move my mouse, it slowly slides closer to me.
This happens at 30 kilometer mark. Is there a maxium Target Point distance you can watch with your targeting pods?
There has always been a max stabilization distance with targeting pods; it used to be 20km, but it is now 30km.

The only ways I know of is by auto-targeting bases, you can lock at any distance but restricted to the actual base targets. The 2nd one is by targeting the point in your own map, which doesn’t require the pod and won’t be very precise.
Manual targeting with the pod doesn’t work. Even if you don’t have stabilization enabled, you are still targeting a random floating point in the air between you and your 30km+ target
The max target range is 30km, if you aim further than that the actual point you’re locked to is mid air 30km out between you and the intended target.

On that front, if you max zoom in the map and target the base/area, it will be really accurate. I use that trick.
I meant that you won’t be able to accuratelly place the targeting point, but the gnss bombs will accurately hit wherever you choose, yes.

Is there a reason why is it limited to 30 km(recently upped from 20 km)? IRL, there are claims with certain glide bombs reaching 72 km range(regular bomb + glide kit ones). Is this purely game play issue? Because i would like to lob GBU-39s from safe distance against IRIS T and cloud all spaa radars to get into knife range with zunis and guns.
You can target things further out by using the map (GPS guiding) so that sort of mirrors IRL, the visual tracker being limited to 30km is likely an in-game engine limitation, i’m not sure.

That works for large area bombing like bases but I sometimes try to attack ground target groups. But anyways, thx for clarification.
Best option for small targets in GRB is to change the map to the ground map instead of the air map while in a plane, that way you can select GPS positions with way more accuracy.
