Why is multipathing still in the game?

Theoretically speaking, what will top tier meta look like if or when Gaijin implements full on realism with ECM, no multipathing, current gen unflarable IR missiles?

Is this even balance-able? Or is the meta just going to shift to “whoever shoots first and hope you are far enough away to survive”?
