Why is every new plane in Japan called the Zero?

Pretty sure that was the F-14s job

Sorry mate, I don’t think you lot are winning WWIII either. Last time Japan and Korea teamed up, they kinda lost the war.

Well, the Americans must have used the Farkours from the Kingdom of Persia. I don’t think the AIM 54s would have been too useful.

some alternate reality xD they probably won

Classic things never changes:

  • Go into WT playing with “the best aircrafts in the world”
  • Destryoed by Zero because game is not easy and for good results you need skills
  • Doing conclusion that Japanese planes is bias and overbuffed and made not historical (only historical knowledge of this guy is wiki pages and Francillon books)

meanwhile players who are good/know how to play something has to suffer the wrath of gaijin, because some players think they are the main character

No bro, America won the war with like the best planes, so like Japan lost, so that means they should be 12.0 and nerfed to absolutely nothing!

Is that actually true? Would be really cool.

currently it’s still the F-3 from my knowledge

Depends on the period and whose calling it.
In WW2 Allied soldiers and airmen often called(or misidentified ) every Japanese plane a “zero” sort of how in the ETO they called every german tank a “tiger”.
IN modern times its part PR and part fandom from militaria fans

This also happened when the war just began

Having F-16 during WWII definitely won’t help Japan win the war, the problems they face is not about the air superiority but the leadership of the military and government. The leadership they have is just a bunch of idiot and retarded with some genius, and the good news (or bad news to the Imperial Japan) is the one who got the power the stupid and retarded ones. So having some “Wonder weapon” won’t really help them turn the tide.

I strongly recommend to do some research before you continue with this imho flat out wrong narrative.

The 1940 US oil embargo forced JP to decide between a slow death due to running out of oil or an “all-in” attempt by trying to get a negotiated peace after crippling the US Pacific fleet. The main reason for JPs campaigns (beside some imperialist goals) was to conquer alternative oil resources.

U don’t have to trust me - just check out some data about oil producing countries, market shares and strategig goals of JPs military.

They were fully aware that the US economy is able to outproduce them by a substantial margin. And hardware becomes irrelevant if you have no fuel/oil to use it.

In no alternate reality there was a chance to win a prolonged war - that is the main reason why some guys appreciated the war and did not prevent it - it was a gigantic boost for the US economy.

I thought they named equipment after the Imperial year - so the D3A “Type 99” was named after Year 2599 (1939), and the Zero came about in year 2600 (1940) - so “00” = Zero, not a sequential number after 99.

Except this is just a theorically scenario, just look at current Russo-Ukraine War the western also think they can letting Russia bleed out economically by cut them off from SWIFT banking system and placing embargo on them. If their leadership is smart and understanding US internal political situation during that time enough they can just overcome this by just bypass Philippines and Pearl Harbour and directly attack british and dutch colonies, and US can’t do nothing to them except watching their triumph in SEA and China, but the fact is no one seem to listen to what Yamamoto said

If only, if only, if only… if only the French had put a few more divisions in the Ardennes in 1940, if only the US had believed their radar operators at Pearl Harbour, if only Stalin hadn’t conducted his purges…

I have zero idea what drives you to come to such conclusions.

I repeat my recommendation to do some research about pre-WW 2 economic situations around the globe - and check especially treaties regarding fleet sizes and resources necessary to drive economic growth.

By controlling the Oceans you automatically control access to resources like oil and ores. So countries like Germany or Japan without these rely on imports of them. The decision to use Poland as excuse for the long awaited and required declaration of war with Germany allowed the RN to cut off these supplies. And the same was happening in the Pacific with the oil embargo.

There is nothing to understand regarding US internal politics - if you look up the creation of “cash & carry” or “lend-lease” you find out that the US citizens (which had like today zero interest to fight somewhere abroad) had declared that they are happy with their isolationist policy - but they were simply outsmarted by FDR and the ruling class.

Referring to Yamamoto or describing alternate battle plans does neither change the fact that the US was producing 80% of the world’s oil - nor does it change the desire of certain forces to create a conflict with a pre-determined outcome.

It is rather easy to play monday-morning quarterback.

FDR still needed congress support if he want to join the war and Pearl Harbour incident giving he an excuses to justify his action and this is what Yamamoto trying to tell the Japan government.

Is true US at that time is the biggest oil producer in the world but you can’t just ignore Japan’s demand, their demand can easily fulfilled by just bypass philippines and only takes Malaysia and Indonesia, and due to the isolationism FDR can’t just order his men attack Japanese’s ship which is a more rational choices for Japan at that time. And just because their leaderships are formed by retarded and idiot, they didn’t think about this

That were the “forces” i mentioned earlier - same as today: All you need is to pull at the right strings of decisive politicians…

Do you really believe this?

I mean the US were at war with Germany long before December 1941 - just look up the efforts in the Battle of the Atlantic. So it is imho a far stretch to assume that your alternate scenario would have prevented a war. Otherwise an incident like happened in the Gulf of Tonkin (upfront Vietnam) would have happened…

In any case: Have a good one!

Edit:

Hidden as imho really off-topic:

I remembered an older vid regarding the US economy 1929-1946 depression. You might find some data and interpretations of data quite interesting:
