I’ve been trying the past 2 weeks trying to do the unstoppable wager in Air RB with the IL-2 yet always a fighter boom and zooms me
What, I thought in Air RB most fighters stay at high altitude to not even dive down so close to the ground?
Why is it so difficult just to destroy like 15 ground targets in Air RB
Because you mark yourself as easy, almost defensless target with decent reward from shooting you?

No offense, but trying a wager in Air RB with your experience level is suicide.
Especially when a BP challenge (=100 ground kills) is running at the same time - this means way more challenge by own players (more guys of your team will ground pound) and way more opposition by enemy strike fighters trying also to ground pound - plus a hell of low skill fighter pilots trying to farm all of them.
It is way more effective to ignore wagers and learn the mode before you make yourself an easy target by ground pounding.
These days are long gone - you find just a few really experienced pilots fighting with the top down approach (highest targets first, because they are a threat) - rookie fighter pilots too lazy to climb for a bomber go for strike aircraft, they don’t care about their energy loss and are happy when they can get a kill.
It is not - i just depends on 3 factors:
- You need the right plane
- You need map knowledge
- You need the ability to read a match, attacking the right targets at the right time and when it’s time to disengage.
In other words:
-
You need a way faster plane, you need to know on which map it makes sense to do a quick attack run, disengage and retreat in order to reassess the game (who is where, who is a threat for you, which friendly is near in case you need help, etc.).
-
Imho you have the choice to become a good pilot or being cannon fodder - it depends on your willingness to invest time to learn to fly and to fight other planes.
-
There are a lot of guys using your Il-2 (1943) quite effective as support fighter as the plane turns quite good and is rather sturdy in head-ons.
I watched ur last 2 Air RB matches.

On the Kamtchatka map you did not saw the 410 attacking you - he missed, but then you turned right instead of left. With a turn to the left you could have easily killed him as he overshot and you turn much better.
-
On the Lagoda map you flew to the center instead of attacking the two columns (= multiple kills in one pass) on the left side - and the you continued ground pounding despite 3 fighters were close to you (and in front of you) - the MS 410 was an easy target…
