Do you know about the sub1-2 and amx10p? Both are 5.7/6.0. This thing doesnt have thermals unlike the wiesel on a worse platform
80mm pen with hesh. So 80mm pen at 0°, 30° and 60°.
HESH hasn’t positively impacted BR of any Vehicle that has it
this gun compares to the Short 75mm on the Early Pz.IVs
That’s why I wrote it they need to fix hesh first. Right now even if hesh would pen it does sometimes nothing. Early Pz4s have heat which in theory cant pen T-34s ufp while the hesh round could
still were talking about 1.3 levels of Pen on a vehicle that isn’t even particularly well armoured
theres no way rhis will be Rank III+, at best Well see it at rank II, if not lower
I was wrong aswell from the british suggestion it could ben even 99 mm of armor:
You have this on a mobile platform. I think it could be 4.7 easily. But lets see what gaijin thinks if they ever add this. The spähpanzer kurz is still a valid option at 5.7
Crusader with the 57mm gun can in theory frontally penetrate a Tiger UFP
that doesn’t make it 6.0 tho
and neither would this 76mm hesh make the saladin anything more than maybe 2.7
I dont wanna spam this topic about the br placement of the saladin. If you think of better options then name them but there arent many
It’s an armoured car. If HESH worked properly, 80mm of pen would be more than enough to deal with almost anything from the side aspect, even 6.7 American heavies. This being HESH it would not concern itself with angles or distance, which is the crippling problem you have with small calibre AP at the mid tiers.
Yes the Puma has more pen but it is also a larger platform with presumably worse gun handling. This is a vehicle you would play as a rat, if it was implemented this way. Of course if HESH remains unusable it will be super low in BR.
I don’t see why police usage would be an issue. There is no requirement even when creating suggestions that vehicles must have been in service with national militaries. We even have private venture vehicles in the game that never found a buyer at all.
As for the Kurz, it was retired in 1984, which means that it has access to some very spicy ammo.
comments on the suggestion say even 99 mm pen

Not only that but 92 were used. That isnt an insignificant amount. Probably germany was the second largest user.

I think it was more about that the kurz would be way higher in BR but forgetting that the wiesel is only that high because of the thermals and not the gun/platform
I find it curious that some players want firepower for a vehicle that exists for the sole purpose of recce duties.
I would have no issue with the Kurz having the same 20mm as the Wiesel since you’re not supposed to be able to go headon and kill everything. You’re supposed to hide, scout and maybe engage some soft targets. Recce vehicles are not required to have firepower.
The kurz at 5.3 to 6.0 (similar to the sub1-2 and amx10p) wouldnt be even bad with apds. Only problems are heavy tanks like kv1s, kv2s , IS-1 and tigers other trees. Everything else can be penned from the side.
Similar to the wiesel you simply have to choose your targets carefully which works with the wiesel. On the other hand the luchs is to big to do that and thus sucks in game (probably one of the worst tanks I ever played)
While firepower is not the main point of a recon vehicle you can’t deny that it’s advantageous (and desireable) to have it
Then don’t engage those targets. As a scout tank you rely on your team to neutralize most threats.
I agree, but it shouldn’t be one of the main factors that determine if a vehicle would be added or not. We are missing quite a few interesting recce vehicles that can’t be added simply because they don’t have proper competitive armament, when that shouldn’t be a determining factor.
I suggested that there are a grand total of 0 (ZERO) Fitting options
and that this is why there are no such tanks in the game
Yeah, because many players want to play solo Thunder.
So being blind to all here even excluding the spähpanzer kurz or Sonderwagen 3. There are still gdr PT-76B, M41 with only solid shot, pak wagon with slightly different gun etc.
What even is your problem? Coming here contributing nothing to the discussion and only trying to derail the topy with the saladin discussion
I don’t see the problem here I play Germany mainly and I never felt the need too use a reconveichle Ifwanna spot a camper for the team I’ll ping or mg close too them spotting them.
also aren’t different nations diffrent for a reason
honestly if you wanna play light tanks go play sweden or smh Germany is a mainly heavy or medium tank nation and I see no problem with that
tbh I think this is a terrible argument if you want a scout car at 5.7 just use the puma
you can use it for scouting and it has decent enough pen for the sides of all veichles
that’s my opinon on this as a German main
good day
Hmmm I think I see where you’re coming from. Were you thinking of vehicles with just a little AT capability like Pz. II Luchs? Or those with only HMG like M3 Scout car or Stuart Recce?
Either way I fear the current state of light tanks is a consequence of how ground battles, and the game as a whole works. You’re expected to provide for yourself, you can’t count on teammates for anything. Unfortunately.
Exactly, but I wouldn’t necessarily pin all the blame on players. War Thunder is a individualistic game, the grind and reward mechanics promotes solo play, you can tell because kills and zone captures is by far the most rewarding actions while assists and scouting gives very little.
The pace, layout, and size of most maps is also not suited for “scouting only” type playstyle, as many maps are too cramped to scout without putting yourself in danger, or they’re so open that everyone can see each other anyways. The matches also ends too quickly for scouting to have a strategic/planning value like IRL.
