Why doesn't the f4e's an/apq-120 radar not have a pulse doppler mode when it was pd irl

The f4e’s an/apq-120 radar was made in 1967 and it utilised being pulse doppler but in warthunder its not pd, its so confusing specially for a game that prides itself in accuracy / accurately modelling stuff

It had no PD

AFAIK it could do speedgate under very specific conditions to filter out chaff but it wasnt a PD radar with lookdown/shootdown capability

It wasn’t PD, but later versions of the radar had CAA ( Computer Automatic Acquisition ) mode, it supposed to be a mode inside ACM mode. You can say it could work as an MTI mode.
Still , not PD but it would be helpful.
Also, 2 seater jets in WT , don’t really function as a 2 seater. There was a reason there were 2 seaters.
For example said CAA mode , the RIO could filter even more the clutter and get the target manually …by the standards of that time…as fast as the radar. So in practice you’d get MTI.

The TISEO that select airframes had could provide provide angular tracking and thus Look-Down, Shoot-Down capability.

Which is a camera

My bad, i thought it only helped to filter out chaff, not ground clutter.

RIO/WSO skill in manipulating the aircraft systems is currently not implemented as a mechanic, unfortunately. That’s something a few users have been asking gaijin to implement for a long time. It would be a pretty significant buff to the F-4E and F-14 if added in a reasonable state.

It sorta can filter out chaff (with a preexisting lock) since the last major update. Every “3rd gen” radar can now. Works pretty well actually in look-up/low clutter enviroments, not quite PD but very helpful for the F-4E or any SARH slinger without PD/MTI (or those with MTI, but restricted to lower altitudes/look-down). Doesn’t help against prechaffing and it’s “notched”, so to speak, a bit easier than actual PD/MTI I think.
