have you tried looking at the angles that actually matter
soviet darts usually have high flat pen but bad angled pen, and angled pen is usually what decides whether you bounce or not on stuff. Leopard 2a4 face is one of the only time I can think of a flat surface to pen
Now compare their angled pen + ricochet angles.
I’ve had that round bouncing on Marder UFPs like it’s nothing.

I found it pretty decent to be honest, but when i got the 435 which is better in basically every way, i found no use for it. Especially with the other 8.7 MBT’s you get with USSR its pretty obsolete at 8.7

Yes, you’re trading half a dozen things for an ability to have better armor against conventional AP rounds that aren’t even that common at 7.7.
Gimel has ERA which can stop 105mm HEAT, let alone 90mm one. It can even help you against some early ATGMs.

Gimel is definitely 0.3 BR better than T-62, as the latter’s advantages mostly lie in being shot at by WW2 rounds lol.
No, the T62’s turret armor is worse, its easier to pen it with 7.7 French solid shot than to pen t55s.
