R73s had same problem and it got fixed over time likely will be fixed

So totally and completely irrelevant information for 99.9999% of actual encounters in WT and therefore irrelevant.

Balancing an aircraft around “duels” is dumb.

Gunfights arent relevant, dogfights will involve missiles and if you manage to dodge the last mica coming for you by keep constant notch, you start the dogfight with a Rafale on your six (lag pursuit).

In a 1v1 nothing matches the rafale

If its an OP aircraft in everything bar duels. Something that is completely irrelevant in terms of actually balancing an aircraft.

Right now the Rafale provides something for its team that other teams don’t really have, and that is a short-range performing monster.

A balanced team with strong long-range missiles (AIM-120/AAM-4/R-77-1) with a strong medium/close-range missile is better than a team full of long-range slingers (AIM-120/AAM-4/R-77-1).

The problem is the Rafale is really the only reliable medium-close range performer, although Su-30SM could be argued to be a close contender.

However if France gets mirrored, then both teams would be balanced and the Rafale’s winrate would plummet.

In fact, OP says a few things can beat it. realtiy is, nothing will if the Rafale pilot has more than 1 brain cell.

Everyone claims the Typhoon is the best dogfighter, but I avoid going anywhere near WVR combat against a Rafale and leverage my only meaningful advantage which is ARH range.

In terms of raw FM. The Typhoon just about edges it out, though is underperforming loads at the moment.

Then its onpar with the F-2 from what i’ve heard.

So top 3 easily.

in a perfect 1v1 most missiles bar r73 dont matter. but that’s dueling. not actual games.
