I think an A4 with external fuel tanks looks so beautiful, plus it’s almost impossible to see an A4 Skyhawk without those wing tanks, as they served as landing gear if the main landing gear failed

Maybe because we dont need them in war thunder ?
gaijin chooses to use custom assets in trailers and videos as it suits them, like the patriots they used in the su34’s introduction
But why put something so light and historic up and then take it down?
In truth, everything in War Thunder is necessary. Now, whether it’s necessary or not is a matter of personal opinion, so your opinion doesn’t matter to me, just as if I said that a SU30SM isn’t important!!! So shut up and keep your opinion to yourself and provide solutions.
there will be no solution, you like it or not. every word that you will provide will not matter at all.
wasting your time buddy, fuel tank on props and turbo jets will not be added as its just is a decoration that a useful thing.
dont be mad papi, just thank god that are people who listen to you rather then insults you to your pointless suggestion.
The Alpha Jet has extra fuel tanks even though it’s subsonic, the Hunter has them, the Su-25, etc. “papi”
yes all worthless addition. why would need fuel tanks when the min fuel you can take is 12min who will last all game
The A21A-3 shall disprove that statement of urs Mr. “propeller planes no drop tanks”
Does it exist? Yes
Do you use it ? No
Conclusion: useless peice of shit 😒
My friend, if properly installed it’s not useless, because if it’s modeled correctly it could serve as landing gear, and yes: there is historical data showing that two different A4s had problems with their landing gear and landed on their external fuel tanks without suffering any damage other than the fuel tank itself.
Sim mode exists.
If you have proof that they were used IRL then you can bug report it here (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about): (Gaijin.net // Issues)
A guide on how to report bugs can be found here: ([Navigation] Technical Knowledge Base | War Thunder Wiki)
For historical issues there are som requirements for sources:

This is sometimes strayed from a little when it’s really modern equipment.
even in sim you would hurt yourself
exemple: su25, we all know that thing is not a good dogfighter at all. bring min fuel who is 12 min ( i dont think you gonna fly 12 min but sure ) and you bring extra fuel tank to fligh more and drop it to fight. but you would sacriface weapons just so you can dog fight ?
lets take the a4 as a exemple, would you really wanna remove your aim9 for fuel tank just to win a dogfight ???

same goes for newer model, why would even want to have 2 missile when you can take 4 ?? even in sim where you take 10min to find someone to kill, waste 2 of you missile but still managed to kill but now instead of having 2 more missiles, no. you want to fligh 10min back and waste more time.
Sim = Simulator.
Players will want to take historically accurate loadouts instead of being “optimal”.
Fuel tanks are added to planes all the time, would it hurt you if players that want it got the option?
You can just not take them and not be bothered by it.
there 2 way too look at it
-
cinematic producers who would like it to make it more accurate
-
having so called historical fuel tank on early ( like the A4 ) or props ( p-51) would just hurt your perf and climb rate. whatever the mode you play.
i am not bother with having it, take a look at the su34, having already huge fuel internal and 3 huge external fuel tanks. but still useless.
And you’re free to those opinions. But i personally feel like they are unnecessary to the discussion and topic.

( FAQ - War Thunder — official forum )
Even the Swedish A21 versions recently got it’s fuel tanks added.
I asked Gaijin Support about this, my friend. I don’t know what would be configured in the bug report and how they would view it. If you could help me, I would appreciate it, and it would bring more realism to the game. Besides, I have proof and sources!

We can find a section of the A4 flight manual which states that “in the event of landing gear failure without two external fuel tanks installed, ejection is mandatory.”
Actually, A21s have had them “bolted” by default before recent changes. In fact, it used to be one of those external defining features of A21A when it comes to distinguishing it from J21As.
So yeah, it is just that devs now separated these fuel tanks from the complete model of A21A. It is not that they added them. They simply made them removable (which is honestly good as those kind of made flight performance worse with unnecessary extra fuel you would never use anyway)
