I just noticed that the French F-100D doesn’t have access to as much air to ground ordinance as the American F-100D (for example, it lacks the 2x BLU-27B on the inner pylons and can only get 1x BLU-27B per pylon, resulting in a max of 6 instead of 8 bombs).
So, I was wondering if there is a historical reason for that or if it’s just an oversight?
Could be that French F-100Ds didn’t have the capability or never used them in service, thats the only reason I can think of.
Historical Reason, which doesn’t apply to the glorious USAF.
If French F-100D had superior loadouts, USAF Version of F-100D would’ve got everything French had due to ‘technical compatibility’
not really
if anything the precedent is that US gets worse version than export
eg: f18c and f15e have versions in other tech trees that are objectively better at the same BR
Nah, AFAIK, there are more vehicles which the USAF has better than exports.
Eg:
-CL-13 Mk.4(F-86E) vs F-86A-5 which acts similar but CL-13 has higher BR.
-P-51C/D vs J26, which Swedish Air Force has a worse belt due to inferior Tracer ammo.
-AD-4(FR) or SB2C-5, which can’t use the superior Mk 13 Mod 0 magnetic mine. (1000lb of weight, and has a 2000lb equivalent of TNT)
-F-84F, which USAF version remains rank 5 for free air-spawn, while every exported version became rank 6 for losing air spawn.
-F-4J vs F-4J(UK) which UK can’t use VTAS HMS and AIM-7F.
-F-104C which shares same BR with F-104A(ROCAF) but can equipped double amount of AIM-9B
-F-5C(USAF) which never had AN/ALE-40 CM pod IRL but stole it from F-5A(ROCAF) when ROCAF version of F-5A didn’t had CM when it origianlly introduced.
[OFC, F-5A(ROCAF) version is better than F-5A/C(USAF), but the point is, F-5A/C(USAF) got their CM pod illegally, and unhistorically.]
-B-17G, which USAF version can be equipped with an additional wing pylon while IDF version can’t.
-P-39/P-63, which soviet can’t change 37mm belt while USAAF can.
-F-111F which has better engines compared to F-111C(AUS/UK)
-B-57A, which has better engines compared to the Original British Canberra B Mk 2
According to the F-5C(USAF) case, F-100D(AdlA) should’ve also been equipped with AIM-9E, AGM-12 bullpup, and double rack for bombs, because of ‘technical compatibility’
