Why does Gaijin mistreat War Thunder so much?

When your plane was “severely damaged” before, you died. You were then given 11 seconds to fly and tossed to hanger. Now you can fly your plane until you crash. Players who “finish you off” AKA kill your pilot and / or all remaining control are also credited with a kill.

Yes the SL value for the kill is reduced, but unless you’re actively avoiding picking up extra kills and assists by gunning at planes still under control the new system provides more SL / RP overall.

Yes, World of Tanks is a prime example and really the only comparable example for War Thunder’s monetization.

Two titles that are glorified Casinos. One MOBA, and one Battle Royale that is currently considered competitively engaging.

Of the four you posted only DOTA 2 is comparable when it comes to War Thunder’s comprehensive gameplay. To my knowledge it still paywalls characters just like League does. War Thunder’s vehicles are similarly locked behind investment of time.

Is it insane copium or do you have actual data and evidence that any of those vehicles actually overperforms?

Nonsense.

Old world:

  1. Clean kill - max 166% SL out of a kill (= 100% for the kill, 66% for a potential assist.
  2. In addition kills In Air RB always had a critical hit (=SL & RP and mission score) component included - only exception: pilot snipes & small hits before a guy died due to pilot errors like overspeeding.

New world:

  1. You get 80% of the kill award for a severe damage (which was previously a clean kill = 100%) as now you need to kill all engines, all pilots or you have to shoot off the tail of your enemy in oder to get a kill. Waste of time and ammo.
  2. So you lose 20% if somebody else “steals” your kill, this guy gets 40% of the kill value (=120% instead of 166%).
  3. If your victim crashes “untouched” you get the missing 20% to get to your 100%.
  4. As soon as somebody scores a severe damage - it is almost impossible to get an assist.
  5. Getting critical hits became so rare that gaijin deleted related daily tasks.
  6. Thanks to the delayed kill effect of severe damage kill stealing increases. Trash players shooting at planes going down in flames (and without wings) or shooting at already crashing planes simply have now more opportunities to play this parasitic game play.

Summary:

  • If your would have read (and understood) the content of various threads about severe damage - you might have realized that the new mechanic is actually an SL & RP income nerf of at least 10-15% and has also led to mission score reductions thanks to the absence of critical hits in Air RB.
  • As the majority of RP income is related to active game time and mission score, a reduction of mission score leads always to less RP. And, ofc, less mission score has an impact on score based events…

You don’t get it, war thunder is an achievement game (grind your goal).
There was a thread somewhere here and couple more in reddit about “I spaded whole X tree, ask me anything”, how many players will stay with all unlocked ?
It’s a game with kill cam, “hit detector”, spawn protection, 3rd person camera, option to increase enemy sound, etc. Air RB marks enemies, his vehicle and missiles.
The only way this can be sustain is with giant grind, some meta and less skill possible

They actually do alot of what people ask for.
They listen to the loudest and majority crowd, unfortunately they do not necessarily have the best suggestions or think long term and then we end up where we are now.

If you shoot and finish off an enemy you are rewarded as well. Your choice to not interact with the new system is not the game’s fault.

They use the free to play game style of mobile games. Free to play but long time to get to the top, but you can buy packs to make the grind easier, and get their subscription ( premium time ) to get bonus xp to level up faster. This is essentially a ported mobile game to PC and consoles.

I have been on the forum before lol. Just because they got rid of the old forums doesn’t mean anything. Also, I have 6+ years of playing this game, so I literally have no clue what your point is.

(some of the least overperforming premiums too) But hey, then again, this post was to do with balance and not just premiums, but seeing as who you can barely perform in your own premiums, I can see why you’d get butt hurt.
The only reason premiums dont “over perform” is when players don’t have 1. an ounce of ability to perform or 2. they don’t have a line up even the premiums that I do have that I “under perform” in aren’t nearly as bad as the stats that I’m assuming are yours. By your logic or the terrible logic of “player stats” makes balance, then nothing and everything can over or underperform. If you don’t know how balance works, just say so. also, your hurt feelings and hurt wallet don’t count toward what makes something balanced.

It’s both greed AND a lack of care.

A lot of poor decisions can be explained by greed, but it doesn’t explain the sorry state the game is in, so that is a lack of care.
