I’ve been playing war thunder and I realized that the graphics of the jet are reasonably realistic but its missing a very important thing which is the nav and anti-colission lights that could make the game look much better, especially at nights.
because in heavily contested warzone, you don’t want be sighted by those lights, and they would most probably be off.
by reglementations, those are visible from at least 1 Nautical Mile at day and 3 Nautical Miles at night.
1 NM= 1.850km
3 NM = 5.556 km
imagine now that you’ve been pulling at night time, a sneak attack with radar off at low altitude, but the in-game Anti-collision lights makes you visible at 5km from your target
→ i’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that your ennemies starts raining some AIM-9’s at you.
(or in GRB conditions - some SAM)
Exist yes. But they are turned off in combat. WT is a combat game.
There is SOOOOoooooo many other things they need to fix before minor cosmetic enhancements like formation lights.
I feel this would be a nice touch but only if you can toggle them. Otherwise you’d make a target out of yourself. Furthermore I believe aircraft should receive more functional nav tools and instruments, namely VOR/DMEs, ILSs and other landing and navigational tools for SIM mainly to experience real IFR flight elements ingame alongside everything else (it’ll also give people a way to land their aircraft in zero visibility conditions which sometimes can occur, your only reliable queue being the map).
In terms of functionality. They would add little to the game. But I dont think that should matter.
External lights for aircraft, Tanks and maybe even ships would be quite cool. Even purely for a cinematic/aesthetic reasons.
Heck, we can already open and close the cockpit, despite the fact it holds no meaningful functionality and we can already toggle the cockpit light which again. Doesnt really mean all that much given that night battles never happen for air.
So yeah, would be good for them to add some purely cosmetic mechanics on the side at some point
