Why do the French have the F4U-7 while the US line does not?

So why do the French get the better version of the F4U when it was the Americans who made it at the first place? Why is there no F4U-7 in the US line?

USA never used the F4U-7, thats why, it was built for France.

Oh…That’s why. Then what did the US use? Did they already have more advanced fighters at the time such as the F-84F Sabre? Or was it BEFORE the Sabre?

They used (in Corsair terms) the F4U-5 and the F4U-6 (AU-1), the 7 was the 6, but with different cooling system if i recall correctly

Thats not a fighter or a sabre, but an attaker, and a Thunderstreak, the sabre was the F-86

The -5 and i think the -6 were before the F-86 but they were used in Korea

Oh yea, I forgot, the Sabre was the F-86F/G?

I mean, then why did the -5s and -6s get SNEBs? Like I know the jets did the fighting and the props (Chinee Tu-2, F4U, P-51/47) did CAS work. Did the -5s and the -6s not get the SNEBs because the SNEBs were developed after the Korean war or did the US simply not like them? The SNEBs are really OP in terms of CAS.

I have absolutely no idea on that regard, sorry

The US never used SNEBs, the SNEB is a French missile, the US developed the Hydra-70 and the FFAR

SNEB = Societe Nouvelle des Etablissements Edgar Brandt

Literally New Society of Edgar Brandt Establishments - the Edgar Brandt Company reorganised after WW2 and today TDA ARMEMENTS SAS part of Groupe THALES

Who was Edgar Brandt? He was the guy who designed Brandt mortars - an improvement on the Stokes mortar sometimes known as “Stokes-Brandt”. He also designed the style of mortar shell still in use today.

Yes, that is correct I believe.

Interesting little factoid - he put obturation GROOVES on the mortar bomb - not rings.

Propellant gasses passing the groove create turbulence that obstructs their free passage past the bomb - thus increasing the drag of the bomb and giving it higher velocity.

Some mortars still use this - others use obturation rings usually of plastic

Because the F4U-7 was made for France and used by France. They had an urgent need for propeller fighters and attackers after ww2, while they were developing jet fighters. On the other hand Americans didn’t need it, there was no significant gap in their forces and they were focused on jet fighters. That’s why. When you want this kind of info the best is to search on internet for exact info

oh oh oh. So the SNEB was french? Nooooooo… Now I must grind even more to get SENBs. Oh no.
