They have a long ignition delay ingame

Fired out the 23mm guns so there would be some delay in real life. Whether its that long though, no idea

This ☝️

Flares being fired far away from your plane is a great thing, imo. I am not sure if it helps that much in War Thunder (as I have not played my Tu-95M much), but if it doesn’t help much, it should. I would support the Devs spending a little time to make some adjustments/changes to ensure that the Tu-95M’s in real life ability to fire flares rearward at a distance give it a benefit in game.

pretty neat detail ngl

It makes it worse in warthunder, actually, lol.

Would be better if flares were fired manually via gun. So a player could control their “direction”…

DANGIT LOL! Do you or anyone else know if there is an existing bug report about it? I don’t like spamming up the bug report site with too much “extra” stuff, but as this was a very “In Real Life” mechanic/benefit, I do think it would be worth some Dev time.

Oh that would be interesting…how to control them would be something to figure out. If you had to go into gunner view, that might complicate things/make things a bit harder. Would be awesome if you could fire them while using the “free look” camera. I would like that a lot.

Well, I doubt there is, cuz it just how IR missiles work in game, I guess. They just don’t see your flares cuz they have very narrow IR cone or something. And they still lock on your engines.

That really does need to be corrected imo. Even though, YES, the Tu-95’s engines are hot, they are NOTHING compared to a jet engine. Imo, I think even some of the early IR missiles wouldn’t even recognize the signature as a valid target. Newer IR missiles, especially all aspect ones, that can lock onto the heat of the plane itself, eh, ok. I could see those still locking effectively. But not the early ones.

Pretty sure it’s just a bug, lots of vehicles do this when you fly fast enough or high enough

Not really a bug. Dropping countermeasures is validated by the server, so there can be a minor delay between dropping it and when it appears on your client. Made worse by ping

But its not that, it has the delay in test flight with no server delay, flying fast or slow

hint: a turboprop engine is a type of jet engine.
