Why do my fps in War Thunder drop all of a sudden

When I start up my game in the hangar it usually maintains around 100-150 fps. When I start a test drive it’s also fine without any stuttering or fps drops, but when I start my first match it just fricks up. The fps go from around 110 to unstable 45-70. There is also a lot of screen tearing, sometimes more sometimes less. I was just wondering if there’s a solution for this or is it some stupid game problem that won’t be fixed in another 3 years. Im playing on a laptop with relatively good specs (nvidia card) so they’re not the problem. Idk what to do anymore lol

Clear cache folder, as well as the compiledShaders folder in the game folder.

Verify files after that.

These are very common solutions, but you also haven’t advised any of what you’ve tried to solve it.

Yeah I’ve been getting this too. For me my fps is fine for about a match or two but then suddenly my fps will just drop and I have to restart the game to fix it. It’s annoying as hell.

You’ve not listed your full specs, Only specified you have a laptop with nvidia card (which is not the same as a pc card specs wise)

You can list your specs/laptop or try lowering settings to see if that makes a difference, No one can really help you given the information you’ve provided.

Lol.

Yep kinda stupid of me just saying ,relatively good specs". I have GTX 1660 Ti, i7, 32 RAM.

I have a 5060TI 16GB and a Ryzen 7 7700X with 32TGB of RAM and it still happens to me. I thought it was the sound mod that was conflicting but even after I removed it, it still happens.

not sure why this started happing to me after a recent update, but after much searching i found one fix for myself. when it came to my fps drops i realised my gpu usage and power usage drops to about 0 when the spike happens, so i check online to then find out that if you have iGPU, it might sometimes apparently switch between your normal GPU (my 5070ti) and igpu (my Ryzen 7 7800x3d), so i fixed it by choosing only my 5070ti in windows

try this after some of the other solutions if you’d like, because they also have worked for some people and fps drops can be caused by a large multitude of issues, with either game or hardware this is just what worked for me.

Fix found for War Thunder GPU usage dropping to 0% (AM5 / iGPU systems / integrated CPU graphics):
If you have a CPU with integrated graphics (like Ryzen 7 78000x3d or maybe a intel equivalent) and a dedicated GPU, Windows can silently switch or reschedule the game onto the iGPU, causing massive FPS drops where GPU usage falls from 90% to 0%. What fixed it for me was forcing War Thunder to use the dedicated GPU in Windows Settings → Display → Graphics → set Warthunder / (or any other application you might want) to “High performance” , disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling , Optionally, disabling the iGPU in BIOS should make the fix permanent, but i haven’t done this. After this, the drops completely stopped usually i would get them every 20 seconds in a match and in the menus, but now nothing. this is only the fix when you can see that your gpu usage drops to 0 or so when you get a fps drop.”

hope this works for you good luck have fun. ill be spreading the word to every form i can find to try to help so sorry if i send this to a area where it isn’t applicable.
