So on the P&W website it’s stated that PW-229’s peak thrust is 129.7kN, which is equivalent to around 13200 kgf, so why does it only have 10530 kgf in game? Wondering if they’re just nerfed for balancing purposes or it’s some other reason
Btw not saying that it should be buffed in any way, the plane’s already a spaceship
channel loss
That’s static thrust. In reality and in the game you have channel loss resulting in less thrust. This applies to all planes not only the F-15E
yeah but gaijin seems to kinda make up channel loss percentages and all f15s have a weirdly high ~20-25% where most are 10-15%
Isn’t it a straight shot to the engines?
idk, that isnt the only cause of channel losses though because they can be caused by intake not being large enough for engines ideal airflow but ive not seen anything suggesting that that is a big factor on f15
Opened up Eagle intakes are huge
I know, thats why I think its weird that f15 channel losses are so high
Thanks for replying everyone
Gaijin’s source is they saw it in a dream
Well. That’s very gaijin of them
This, IRL channel loss is a simple calc of the airflow required vs the inlet size and turbine intake size.
Gaijin is fully arbitrary in their choices with some engines like the TF34, which have literally no channel to have channel loss on, still suffering somehow.
And what should i make out of this?
That there are many factors that contribute to installed thrust (what Gaijin calls “channel loss” for some reason)
Mhm. And are these accurate for the F-15?
They affect all jet engines
yes we understand that, we just dont know where their numbers are and why they gave f15s higher than average channel losses
